February 26, 200619 yr I would say he is green with the grey factor: normal grey green. Regards. okay thanks for that so what will the grey factor do if I breed them?
February 26, 200619 yr if matched up with blue show as the grey colour if match to green more like him.
March 7, 200619 yr interesting.. What would make a bird 'olive', and what would make a bird 'grey green'?? I seem to always get these two mixed up!!!
March 7, 200619 yr A bird that is olive has 2 dark factors. Green budgies are either light green with 0 dark factors, dark green with 1 dark factor, or olive green with 2 dark factors. Blue budgies are sky blue with 0 dark factors, cobalt with 1 dark factor, and mauve with 2 dark factors. The dark factors are inherited by their parents based on how many they have - but the most they can inherit would be 2 (one from each parent). Grey green is when a green bird gets a grey factor from one of its parents. If a blue bird gets a grey factor, it would be grey. It could get one from each of its parents, but it only takes one to show up. I think that homers bird is olive green - because the cheek patches are dark (purplish) instead of silvery blue, but I'm not sure.
March 7, 200619 yr Oh I see.. so from this post, I'm guessing that visual are hard to tell for olive and grey green?? Are they similar in colours? And thanks for explaining that to me.
