Posted February 22, 200619 yr I hope this is in the right place. Well on Monday, I start vet school. This is my first day of 5 hard years of study and then further years of avian specialisation. I can't wait to start!!! Yay. Oneday (hopefully) I'll be a vet!!
February 22, 200619 yr congratulations, your hard work is paying off!! Remember always say you can and you WILL!! Edited February 22, 200619 yr by lovey
February 22, 200619 yr Don't know why my other post won't copy but that is such wonderful news, there is such a great need for avian specialists!! All the best to you, you already have the right attitude.
February 22, 200619 yr Congratulations! It will be hard work, but the rewards far outweigh that, don't they? Go for it!
February 22, 200619 yr Woot! Go you I wish you all the best. Just wondering what did you need to get into the course? Not sure if NZ has OP's or something else to mark grades.
February 22, 200619 yr OH how wonderful! Please share lots of information with us, some of us wanted to be vets and it just never happened
February 22, 200619 yr Wonderful!!! How exciting for you. I hear its very hard to get into Vet school. Could you do us all a favour and also get your pilots license and keep your pasport up to date ???? I hear there is a shortage of Avian Vets worldwide so we could use your services ..........travelling avian vet :angel1:
February 23, 200619 yr Congratulations Sailor! This is a wonderful opportunity for you and I wish you all the best.
February 23, 200619 yr Author Well the first semester is open for everyone. It is the second semester that is really hard to get into. :budgiedance: . However, I'm gonna try my little heart out. In NZ, you need to do chemistry, biology, physics, maths and English in school, as prerequisites and you must do 5 days of work experience at a vet clinic.
February 24, 200619 yr Study study and quiet study and you will succeed....Go for it ( Dr Sailerwolf )
February 27, 200619 yr That's amazing! congrats! I'm currently studying sciences in College and I'm hoping to get a bachelor in University concerning animal sciences and then I'd like to go onto Vet Med and then specialize in the Avian species. I hope all goes well for you!
February 27, 200619 yr Author Today was my first day. It was quite intense. i had 4 lectures in a row and then a three hour lab afterwards. . I just did an hour of study. It's hard work already, but boy will it be worth it. :ausb:
February 28, 200619 yr eeek! I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to do the same thing. I'm not quite sure how the school system works in NZ though, I live in Canada and it's really really really hard to get into Vet Med.... But I'm working hard in CGEP and trying to get the best marks possible! Goodluck!
March 1, 200619 yr Good luck and keep a positive mind and you will succeed. Never say 'it is too much, too hard, or too tiring' Just keep at it, and look to the future, and how many lives will be affected by the good work you will be doing. Cindy
March 5, 200619 yr Author I am finding it challenging at the moment. I have a lot of homework. But the fact that I am finally on the path to vetdom, makes me really wanna do it. :bluebudgie:
March 5, 200619 yr Don't forget to share interesting bits of information with us! I wish I hadn't been such a woose at your age - I thought I would faint at the sight of blood! (Laughing out loud). I now have 3 boys, and I'd be permanently unconscious if that was the case!
March 5, 200619 yr Author Well at the moment I'm only learning chemistry and physics and biology to see if I'm good enough to continue. Every vet student has to do it. It is part of the course, but if you don't do well they don't let you continue and you have to start again. So unfortunately I can't let you in on any juicy vet bits just yet, unless you wanna know some chemical formulas, evolution and how to calculate the displacement of a car travelling at 30m/s for 7 seconds. :bluebudgie:

Really? You have to learn that once you're there?? I've already done all that, and that alone isn't enough to get me into vet school. How old are you? If you don't mind me asking. Things must be very different from over here.
