Posted February 19, 200619 yr First, here are some pictures of poor little Pixel. In case you missed my other post, she got out of the cage and my dog found her and ripped a lot of her feathers out. :ausb: She saw the vet and is now on antibiotics and pain meds and is already doing much much better. You can really see the difference in those wings now. It doesn't seem to hurt her as she moves it as normal and always has, but when the accident first happened, she was holding it out quite a bit. The vet seems to think it is okay though, nothing out of place or broken. Thankfully, she hasn't refused to drink her water even with added aspirin (as instructed by the vet). She's in mid-yawn here and you can see a lot of where the feathers are missing. She's already got a few fluffs coming in. I hope she is herself again soon. Right now, she's climbing about the cage bars and she's been digging into her cuttlebone quite a bit. Poor baby. I deserve bites but she doesn't even give them. If you guys wanna come over and bite me, that's absolutely fine though. In other news, I am now officially engaged to Richard (as of the 14th). ALSO (in more budgie-related exciting news) we went to PetSmart today for pellets and wheatgrass and Richard bought me a new baby budgie!!!!!!! I forgot the wheatgrass and he made me wait in the warm car for him and came out with a budgie I've been drooling over all week. I think it's a male and he has the characteristic markings of a doublefactor dominant pied. Richard named him Pippin and we're calling him Pip for short. He's so adorable. I'll try to have pictures tomorrow as he's being quarantined in the living room and we're still staying at the hotel (with Pixel; Richard's visit still have over a week left). We go home every day to play with all the birds, feed, water, and clean up after them. ALSO since my biggest concern about adding to the flock is cage space, Richard is going to get me this cage after Pip's quarantine is over. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all my birds will get along in this cage together but if worse comes to worse, I have about a zillion spare cages to use. (That won't be ideal, but I'm prepared to get over it if that happens. :X)
February 19, 200619 yr Oh wow Terri! From the depths of the worst news possible, you certainly shot up to cloud 9 quickly! Yay, congrats to you and Richard! And what a man, buying you a little feathered friend! Please give Richard a big sloppy kiss from me. (Oh andRichard, please post Pika over to me, Terri keeps forgetting to do that!) Poor little Pixel, no tail feathers! How lucky was that little bird, how absolutely wonderful. When Richard goes home, and you have more time I expect a long chatty pm telling me all about his proposal!

February 19, 200619 yr CONGRATS!!!!.... Soo sry to hear about Pixie....what kind of dog?... About the cage...OMG!!!!....im definately going with the same deal! I need a bogger cage, and i was lost until i saw this site! So perfect for like 5-8 budgies....yet VERY CHEAP! I live in Guelph Ontario Canada, so i will have to e-mail them about shipping, but it cant be that much? I have a questions though! In Canada, our tax is 15% on all things right? But what about the US? If i were to buy that cage...would i only pay the American tax, but then the Canadian Taxes for shipping? Or would i pay all Canadian taxes, or All American ones?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?... thx guys!...and this cage is good for like 5-8 budgies right???....???...???? Kirby
February 19, 200619 yr Pixel looks unbothered by the whole thing.. she'll be fine. Congratulations on the engagement.. and new budgie. Can't wait to see him. Oh.. how I wish I would have bought a cage like that, rather than the Hagen Vision.....

February 19, 200619 yr Congrats on your engagement, that is awesome Terri!! Yes you will have to tell us all the details. I am so glad Pixel is okay, I am sure once she is back to her normal self, everyone will accept her back. I LOVE that cage, I had been looking at those other ones you sent me but that one is awesome!! I can't wait to see your newest addition, I was so tempted today at the pet store we went to but I said no not yet, I need a bigger cage and such. Keep us updated with pics on Pixel.

February 19, 200619 yr Oh Terri! that is fantastic! i think a double congratulations is in order! :ausb: on the other hand, poor pixel has certainly been in the wars. i'm sure it looks worse to us than it does to her though. she'll soon have lovely new feathers coming through. Accidents do happen, they happen to us all at one stage - so don't beat yourself up about it.
