Posted February 14, 200619 yr Before my camera dies completely ( ) I decided to take some pictures tonight. Out of about a gazillion pictures these are pretty much the only ones that turned out. Hope you enjoy them.
February 14, 200619 yr You have the prettiest flock Your pics are great. Looks like you have lots of girls with brown ceres. Do you breed your birds?
February 14, 200619 yr I love that last picture, you got them all together that is an awesome picture. Your budgies are beautiful, shows how many different colors you can have . I really like your dominate pied's markings on his wings, beautiful.
February 14, 200619 yr Author You have the prettiest flock Your pics are great. Looks like you have lots of girls with brown ceres. Do you breed your birds? Thanks, they stay brown all the time. I don't breed them anymore, but if I had the room I wouldn't mind a few more clutches. Actually, all the birds I have now except one were born in my living room. Skittles is the mom, she is the one in the last group picture in the center of the row of three - the one with a few white flight feathers mixed in with the normal black ones. (Dad has passed over the Rainbow Bridge.) All the rest are her babies (two clutches). I had a bit of difficulty parting with them. So if I wanted to breed them, I would need to buy new birds to pair them up with. Hence the need for more room. I did end up with quite a few different colors and markings. Not at all what I expected! Thanks everyone, for your nice comments.
February 14, 200619 yr you really did come out with alot of colors, was the dad Rainbow? The one in your old siggy?
February 14, 200619 yr Author you really did come out with alot of colors, was the dad Rainbow? The one in your old siggy? Yes. Here he is again, for those that haven't seen him.
February 14, 200619 yr he is gorgeous, now what mutation was he? A pied? or a Rainbow? Just asking for my own knowledge, I do hope you don't mind.
February 14, 200619 yr Soooo beautiful budgies . The rainbow male in your last post is gorgeous! What kind of perch is the one he is sitting on? I haven't seen perch like that yet
February 15, 200619 yr Author Thanks to everyone. he is gorgeous, now what mutation was he? A pied? or a Rainbow? Just asking for my own knowledge, I do hope you don't mind. I don't mind at all. I used to think he was a rainbow pied, but I think his official description is a dilute type 2 yellowface opaline clearflight blue pied (how's that for a mouthful??). As for which blue, I don't know. Either mauve or cobalt. Soooo beautiful budgies :budgiedance: . The rainbow male in your last post is gorgeous! What kind of perch is the one he is sitting on? I haven't seen perch like that yet :ausb: Thanks, the perch is cholla wood. You can order them from the internet, or can probably find them at the pet store too. I like them, because the birds do. Plus you can stuff food or shreddables inside the holes to help alleviate boredom.
February 16, 200619 yr Author How do you get them to sit outside the cage like that? are they all tamed? I don't know...they just sit there! They are pretty good. They are somewhat tame. They will all step up to go back in the cage, and will hop right on me (head, arm, shoulder, leg, whatever) and will preen people. I can pick them up and they usually don't bite. But I can't walk out of the room with one on my finger or anything like that, because they do not like to be away from the flock. They can be pretty skittish sometimes.
February 16, 200619 yr Author I got two more this morning. One of them is just beginning to fluff in both shots, and the way the camera caught them, I think they look soooo soft. But it will be time for a new camera soon. Edited February 16, 200619 yr by Rainbow
