February 5, 200619 yr Adam we just had a show up here in Brisbane...I couldn't go. :bluebudgie: Dothe judges give the results of the judging as in what the marks were for each area of the birds?

February 6, 200619 yr Author All very nice bird Adam, are any of them yours?Cindy Thanks No not this time round. I didnt show. okay this might sound like a stupid question but how do you judge the budgies? what makes them good for showing? They all look gorgeous to me :bluebudgie: Actually that reminds me, gonna see what I can put on the website about how a budgie is judged. Its a number of things, how it stands, the feather quality, colours, marking quality, wing quality etc. Adam we just had a show up here in Brisbane...I couldn't go. Dothe judges give the results of the judging as in what the marks were for each area of the birds? Yeah I guess that would be right in some cases. When my birds we judged, they looked at the bird and give it a place card if it was any good. am i the only one who cant see them? lol! i just read the other topic, came to this one and it says please do not hotlink our content in place of all the pictures! :ausb:  Your computer is blocking referers. February 6, 200619 yr Adam, a lot of those budgies looked like 'pet' budgies, rather than the poofy headed show budgies. Is that right?
February 6, 200619 yr awesome pictures, #16 I can see why he won When they budgies are at the shows are they used it? Like they are calm etc..? Do the judges just look at them or they pick them up too and look for different things? Like they do dogs and cats? May be a stupid question but just wondering.
February 6, 200619 yr They're so pretty. I can't wait to add an english budgie to my flock. Number 8 though... was he caught in a weird moment or is that really his posture?

February 7, 200619 yr Author They're so pretty. I can't wait to add an english budgie to my flock. Number 8 though... was he caught in a weird moment or is that really his posture? Think caught in a weird moment.
February 7, 200619 yr Ahem, I do believe these birds are called Show Budgies not english budgies! #6 reminded me of Blinks!
February 7, 200619 yr Author All budgies are Australian, just the "engish" budgies live in a different climate therefor are slightly different. It does doesnt it!
February 7, 200619 yr Adam, a lot of those budgies looked like 'pet' budgies, rather than the poofy headed show budgies. Is that right? ive got to agree lin that was my first impression when i saw them :fear
February 7, 200619 yr Oh I'm pleased Hath! I thought there was something wrong with my eyesight
February 7, 200619 yr Are there not two types of budgies? The English and American correct? And both varieties are being showed at the show? Just like dogs there are different breeds some have show quality and some don't. Is that why, some look like American vs English? Just sticking out my neck here, I could sound like a babbling idiot right now.
February 7, 200619 yr Well, that's basically what I asked Adam. The English budgie is what is normally known as the show budgie (at least here), and has the poofier head and the mean eyes. The American is what we all call the pet budgies, so like our average pet birds. But, as Adam said, these are all the English ones, they just appear to be different I suppose from the angle of the photos
February 7, 200619 yr gotcha Lin, I agree with you many look like the American vs the English. Your eyes are just fine .
