Posted February 4, 200619 yr Neo came to live with us on the 4th of feb 2006. We have placed his cage on a bench in our dining room. There is a window that is covered by a venetian blind and a lace curtain behind him. We use this room quite a lot and it is the main thouroughfare from the bedrooms to the kitchen, toilet, laundry and backyard. We do not need to go directly past his cage. I am sure this position is fine. ANy comments? Also it is advisable to put his cage outside during the day or not. He will be under the patio cover protected from the elements.
February 4, 200619 yr I think if you are interested in taming your bird, the closer it is to you the better. It will get used to the noise, seeing you move around, etc. As for outside, I would be careful. I've read some posts about cages getting knocked over or opened, and birds escaping or getting killed. I wouldn't even think of it unless I was going to be right there with the bird.
February 5, 200619 yr Thanks Shawna. We will be keeping him inside. He gets fresh air via the window. We bought him from a pet shop so I doubt that he was outside at all in the first place.
February 5, 200619 yr sounds like a good position. being near the activity is the most important thing. :hap: in the summer, i often take my budgies cage outside and sit it on the garden table while i sit eating my lunch or something. the sunlight does them good - but you must be very careful and supervise at all times.
February 5, 200619 yr Sounds an okay place. Budgies love company and will interact with you if more time is spent with them.
February 5, 200619 yr When we are home Pretty is always in the same room with us , as for putting him outside only supervised there were a couple posts here of people who but their birds in the cage unsupervised and the cage was knocked over and the birds got out.
