Posted January 29, 200619 yr hi everyone....ummm how do i start, we have 3 budgies now because my aunty and her family went on holidays during december so she left her cute budgie with us, anyways thats not the case, the problem is that one of our budgies has very long toe nails and he's feet are kinda dry i think, they look very different from the other budgie's feet and i dont know if the dryness in he's feet has to do with how long the nails are, i'd also like to know if we should cut the nails ourselves or take him to a vet, cos we get really nervous as he likes to move a lot. id really appreciate any help given. thanks :hap: Edited January 29, 200619 yr by Abs_Crazy
January 29, 200619 yr Hi and welcome. I've never come across dry feet in a bird before, but I doubt very much it has anything to do with his nails. I think you are best to take him to a vet (avian) to get his nails clipped, and also the feet checking out. You can ask the vet to show you how to do it, you might feel brave enough to do it yourself next time. Budgies can bleed from a toenail cut too short, and, as they don't have a lot of blood in them, it can turn serious very quickly, so a vet really is wisest

January 29, 200619 yr Could be some type of scaly foot. There's a good topic on vets, have a look plenty of links to avian vets http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....ic=6326&hl=vets
January 29, 200619 yr thanks for that, it makes it much easier for me with the links, i actually found to sites there which have numbers to avian vets in london so ill make sure to give them a call so i know exactly were it is, hopefully ill be able to go on tuesday. :ausb:
