Vet Costs

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I want to take my new baby skip into the vet for a check-up and also the pet shop only clipped one wing and he keeps falling over and stuff so I want to have the other one done too.

COuld any of you give me a rough idea of how much this may cost (fellow Aussies if possible!)

I'm a poor student (Laughing out loud) so need to budget

also if anyone can reccomend a good vet in Perth (AUS) that would be fantastic

Thanks!

Whereabouts in Perth are you? There are only a few good avian vets, most charge your basic consult fee at about $40. What suburb?

Call the actual vet to ask for an estimate. It can vary quite a bit so it's better to call the office of the one you plan on going to. They'll let you know.

We pay about $40 - $50 for the check up and then extra for any treatment we need to get or other stuff that needs doing.

I live in east perth, have emailed some vets, yet to hear back.

I don't know of one that side of the river. There is a great one in Applecross - 789 Canning Hwy, and there is a mobile vet that claims to be a bird specialist, but I have no personal knowledge of them, Barb's mobile vet sevice

Ive been very lucky with my vet, he knows that I often take on very sick or damaged birds as a rescue, and often gives me hugely reduced prices. Ive even had on more that one occasion a totally free consultation and treatment. If meds have been costly, connsultaion has been free. Over the years, and including some exceeding sick birds needing lots of avian medical care, he must have saved me hundreds of pounds. I think he should be placed high on a pedestal (he is already in my eyes of course!)
