Posted January 22, 200619 yr Well after much thought (all of about ten seconds) following my other topic regarding my seven new budgies in small quarantine cage, I decided to get a brand new cage, even though I don't have the space to store it after but hey as long as the budgies are happy for the time that they are under isolation, they can have the space to fly around, I'm happy. They are such little characters. the cage that I got is 30in L x 18in D x 34in H... Is that big enough for 7 budgies? Oh just on that, how many budgies would it nicely house if I decide to use that cage to house budgie indoor afterwards? I will get some pics once the birdies have moved it.. I washed it when I got the cage home as it was a bit dusty, so now it's being sun dried outside. The new birds should move in this evening.
January 22, 200619 yr congrat on your new cage, I can't wait to see pictures. With all these new cage pictures, I want one too
January 22, 200619 yr My four are in a 30x18x18 and it seems a bit cramped to me (though I will never be satisfied!). I think it's fine as a temporary cage but I wouldn't put more than 4 in it permanently and I would only put 4 in if they're going to be out of the cage a lot on a daily basis. I know yours is taller than 18" but the most important factor is width. If you're gone for a lot of the day, I think two three budgies would be comfy in that cage permanently. If you can give them a lot of out time, maybe four. Can't wait to see the pictures!
January 24, 200619 yr Author okay, here's the picture of my new cage front on. Please excuse the mess in the room. It's my hubby's workshop. or rather he just spends alot of time in the room fiddling around. Here's the link to it. I'm afraid that a 450x450 picture just doesn't quite show the cage very well.. anyway... here it is... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/Che...dgieNewCage.jpg All seven budgies are up on the top perch inthe pictures. They are quite happy up there. They also venture down to the bottom of the cage quite a lot and they play with each other down there. In fact, most the time during the day, I see them chasing each other at the bottom of the cage, and the ones up top are usually napping or if it's at night time. As you can see in the pics, they are all ready for bed!! (Laughing out loud) While I'm at it, here's a picture of what Lemon and Hope's cage looks like. I just stuck a fresh branch of bottlebrush in there... Lemon is hiding behind the branches chewing it up already to the left of the cage, just under the big bit of covered up space, under the rope perch. She loves her bottlebrush.
January 24, 200619 yr Looks like a good temporary cage for them, but definitely not big enough for seven budgies on a permanent basis. Even though they may go play at the bottom, you still have to consider the width of the cage more important, especially for flying room. As that picture shows, they'll still always prefer to be at the top, that's where budgies feel safest. But it looks like a very nice cage and a good temporary home for them!
January 25, 200619 yr Author what a beuatiful cage, what type of plat do you have in there? Thanks. The plant is fresh branches of bottlebrush. In the top pictures, I've used two freshly cut branches as perches. They still have the little twigs and leaves on there. The budgies love playing with them. Terri...Yeah, this will be their temporary home. May be except two. The yellowface blue normal and the grey spanglesd. Both boys. They might stay in that cage to keep my hubby company while he's in his workshop (of course they'll be let out as well when hubby's not in there. ) Thanks for the advice. January 28, 200619 yr I love Lemon & Hope's cage. I couldn't load the picture of the new cage it kept coming up page not found. But from the dimensions I'd only have 2 permanent budgies in it.
