Posted January 19, 200619 yr i picked up my aunties cage tonight and the bar spacing is 2 cm, front and back sides horizontal and the sides vertical. is this too big for a budgie?
January 19, 200619 yr When purchasing a budgie cage, make sure that the bar spacing is no more than 1/2 inch. Anything larger could be enough for your bird to get his/her head stuck (causing injury or even death) or to?escape. Board FAQ'S http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...id=1&artlang=en
January 19, 200619 yr And I'd like to add, from personal experience, that a baby budgie needs only 2cm to squeeze through the bars. Another trap to be aware of, if you have larger birds in the house, budgies can, and will squeeze into their cages.
January 28, 200619 yr Definately too wide for a budgie. Depending on the size of the cage it would be the right size spacing for a Kakariki.
January 29, 200619 yr Isn't the maximum recommended bar spacing for a normal sized budgie something like upto 1.2cm
