Posted January 17, 200619 yr Just like i promised here's a bunch of photos from during and after me and my friend made the row of perches today. I hardly hit my fingers at all and i even managed to master a saw and a drill!! Concentrating very hard on hitting the nail and not my fingers.... Sat down cause i got tired after hitting like.....maybe 2 nails. Doing very well with the saw..... Wait.....now it wont move!!! HELP! Finished but not installed. Now the perches are put in but i still need to figuire out how to put some holes in the roof for toy hooks. Cool natural perches! Homemade swing. A different angle, you can see the paper towel rolls for chewing. All finished!!
January 17, 200619 yr Bea......love the shot of you in your sexy safety glasses Giving that drill a work out! No seriously....cool action shots....Girls rule at handywoman stuff!!!
January 17, 200619 yr Author Glad you're amused!! I wasn't sure if any little metal bits would fly off so i decided to get the safety googles from my science kit just incase. :(Laughing out loud):
January 17, 200619 yr Better to be safe than sorry...you've only got two eyes....best to look after them
January 17, 200619 yr Oooh well done bea Oh and I love the homemade swing, did the budgies take to it?
January 17, 200619 yr Author Sure did. Tiki especially seems to like it. I have this feeling that i'll constantly be replacing the string but if they enjoy it then it's worth it.
January 17, 200619 yr Excellent work Bea. But, your shoes should have been closed in ones! What if you had cut a toe off. Oh, actually, I would have enjoyed pictures of that
January 17, 200619 yr good work on those i especially like the row of perches. how long did it take you to make all of them? Â Cheers, Daniel
January 17, 200619 yr Author Well making the frame only took probably 20 mins including cutting the stuff to the right sizes. We were stuffing around a lot though so we probably spent 3 hours making stuff, cleaning the aviary, catching the budgies, arranging stuff, putting the birds back.
January 17, 200619 yr thats so cool bea, well done! Â doesnt it give you a sense of pride when you do it yourself. i have to say aswell that is a very innovative use for a couple of garden loungers!
January 17, 200619 yr love the picture's now they can poo in a row maybe you should enrol in a tafe collage a future carpenter for sure
January 17, 200619 yr :(Laughing out loud): Cool pictures Bea, I would have to say the safety glasses one is my favourite picture. THREE CHEERS FOR BEAAAAAAAAAA!!
January 17, 200619 yr Fanastic work Bea, I have to agree with everyone the glasses picture is classic!!! I look forward to seeing more pictures with the birds swinging and hanging
January 18, 200619 yr Author I'm glad everyone like it! Yes, i do feel very satisfied seeing the birds using everything knowing that i made it. Whoever said i should do a course on woodwork or something, i have always joked about becoming a builder just because it's such a guys job and also because there's always those hot young guys who take their tops of when they're working. However, if you had of seen a movie of me attempting to cut the stuff to the right size you would see that i had a lot of trouble, i couldn't stop laughing....it was pathetic!! :(Laughing out loud): I took heaps of photos just now so once i resize them i'll post them in the pictures forum. Â And if anyone is interested all the wood and nails, screws, etc only cost me $30AU!! I was very pleased!
January 20, 200619 yr Glad you're amused!! I wasn't sure if any little metal bits would fly off so i decided to get the safety googles from my science kit just incase. :ausb: Â Â Bea I hope you went over the floor with a magnet to pick up those little bits of metal. Budgies will pick them up and if swollowed they will get metal posioning.....
January 20, 200619 yr Author Well i don't think any came off anyway but i cleaned the aviary out after i had finished so it should be okay.
January 21, 200619 yr You should be proud of actually doing it yourself. Alot of people just buy stuff (like me - I'm lazy hehe!) when they could save themselves alot of money and gain much satisfaction knowing they like something that you made.
January 22, 200619 yr Author Even if it was more expensive i think i would still prefer the knowledge that i made it myself, (Laughing out loud)! It's so satisfying and especially good showing it off to people... "Oh, and there's the stuff i made"
January 25, 200619 yr Thtta was a job well done, Bea. It looks great. WHEN you get free time, you can come and do mine for me :redalbino: Cindy
January 28, 200619 yr me too Bea, I have a number of idea's . . . Â I've also got my dream aviary that I'll need help with when I decide to build it - still in planning stage (plans still in my head! (Laughing out loud))
January 30, 200619 yr That's such a great aviary. I'm hopeless at the drill...and really anything mechanical It looks so good!
