December 27, 200519 yr Thanks hath!! This one is especially adorable. And I love the dark eyed clear one as well. Maybe when I relocate to the UK I will be able to find one like that.
December 27, 200519 yr Definitely! Is it just me, or do the show budgies seem to be more common in the greyish/darker colors? Maybe it's just coincidence but most of them I've seen are the darker blues like mauve or deep cobalt. And the greens look more olive colored.
December 27, 200519 yr no i dont think so but saying that certain colours bred give better qualities for show birds
January 8, 200619 yr Yes he is, but he is an American version like my Pretty. Here is a description between the two types, from the FAQ's of the site http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...id=8&artlang=en
January 8, 200619 yr hes 100% american pied then becuase as the description says"clownish" and jim is def a clown!!
January 8, 200619 yr Yes he is, but he is an American version like my Pretty the american budgie and the pet budgie that most people in the uk have are the same size so hes 100% american pied hes 100% pet budgie
January 14, 200619 yr I think Jim is a dominant pied. He has blue very high up on his body, which is not the typical pattern of recessive pieds. Recessive pieds ususally have a patch of different colour at the bottom ("belly area") only. Quin is a recessive pied: Edited January 14, 200619 yr by Ausmoz
January 14, 200619 yr True. Whether or not his iris color gets light will determine that. He could be doublefactor dominant pied.
January 14, 200619 yr I think that Jim is a DF dominant pied too based on that picture. Also, his cere will turn blue if he is dominant and is indeed a male. Edited January 14, 200619 yr by HurdyBirdy
January 14, 200619 yr right now Jim might be too young to tell, the determination will be the iris ring which comes around 8-12 months of age. He looks like a recessive but he could be a dominate and that would be the only way to tell
January 14, 200619 yr or if you can tell if his eyes have a red plum withing them, you can sometimes tell when you take a picture at a certain angle. I remember with Pretty I posted a picture here, and Nerwen pointed it out to me
