Interesting Perch

I just went to cover Rejy and found her sleeping perched on a peg, of all things. I use a clothes peg to clip some of her bells up and I'd put one near the roof at the back, pointing into the cage to make it easier to remove, Well Rejys decided it makes the perfect sleeping perch.I didn't think she would find sitting on something so square comfy oh well I'll just add it to all her other mad things. Is it okay for her to sit on it, or should I move it so she can't?

Thanks Emma

You really are getting introduced to the weird and wonderful ways of budgies, aren't you? It's fine for her to sit on, you will find budgies perched in the most awkward and stupid of places. Perfectly normal :) Budgies like to be as high as possible - their favourite game is 'I'm the King of the Castle and your the dirty rascal' :):D:P

ya my budgie was sleeping ontop of her swing instead of on it!

yep. i use metal food clips to clip veggies to the cage. one day i put in a particularly long carrot stick and casper chose to perch on that. silly boy stared to chew and eat the part that was closest to the clip so inevitably the carrot stick snapped and casper ended up looking rather embarrassed on the bottom of the cage. -_-

Bluey has started perching on his clothes peg lately too -_-

Looks very uncomfortable, he sometimes has to keep a hold of the cage with his beak so he doesnt fall off :D

Some of my budgies in the Avairy will sleep upside down on the top wire.

Budgies are stupid sometimes. :(Laughing out loud): Blinkie sometimes tries to perch on his ferris wheel which of course just spins round and round and round!

I didnt know you could get ferris wheels for birds? Do they go round them like hamsters?

Talking of odd perches.......

Blinkie has one like this which i put on his play gym. He also has one which is exactly the same again but on it's own stand so you don't need to put it on a perch. Blinkie was scared of them for a while but he loves them now. :bluebudgie:

I just bought one of those for my birds the other day. I can assure you they are deadly dangerous, and no self respecting budgie should approach it at all :bluebudgie:

(Laughing out loud)!! Lin, they'll get used to it! :bluebudgie:

Yeah, budgies do use the little exercise wheels made for hamsters and mice. I've been into a few pet shops where they have little exercise wheels in their budgie cages and the budgies are all using them like the mice and hamsters do, they even ran along the top of the wheel. If you are going to buy one I would suggest a solid plastic one that is large, so that little budgie toes and tails don't get caught. :bluebudgie:

Bea I have that one too, but I had to take it out, Freckle would stand next to it and just pick at the plastic over and over and over, driving me nuts with the little clicking noise it made. Then I didn't think it was safe for her beak doing that.

I have one of thsoe perch star things. Rejy ignored it while it was on her perch, so I hung it up and now she loves trying to sit on it, even though its obviously an impossible feat.
