Posted November 28, 200519 yr Hi guys, i am concerned for FiFi as he/she has been very quite since yesterday... Another thing i have noticed is that FiFi has become inseperable from PePi... If i take them apart they call for eachother, and if i put FiFi back in the cage with PePi it will move right next to PePi rubbing up against it infact... FiFi has been sleeping alot too... Now FiFi is younger and smaller (although getting bigger everyday now) and i guess i makes sense that it can't keep up with PePi, but it seems outa sorts still....I Mean it will not leave PePi's side where as before he wouldn't be so clingy, almost afraid to leave the bigger Naughtier PePi.. FiFi is more tame and easier to handle aswell so fear of us can't be the problem.... Anyone seen this sort of behavior??? FiFi's feces are runny too....

I would surgest separating them even since they wont want it. Put FiFi in to a hospital cage. If you can get to see an avian vet, good. At the worst try to get some antibiotics from a pet store and put fifi on it straight away. Do you know how to set up a hospital cage? You will need one even if you take him to a vet.
November 29, 200519 yr No how do you build a hospital cage?? Here is a good site explaining a Hospital Cage. it is for finches but work all right for Budgies.
November 29, 200519 yr Thanks Daz... FiFi is in for observasion at the vet's as we speek....Awaiting test results this afternoon..Fingers crossed.
November 29, 200519 yr :ausb: Double crossed here, just spent a lot of $ and time @ the vet this weekend for my lovebird who is named "Phoebe" but she is worth every penny, good luck!!
November 29, 200519 yr Thanks Phoebe.. Well Good News so far peoples, the test came up clear with the feces..No parecites. FiFi is being kept for observation over night on antibiotics.. If symptoms persist (not eating well) a blood test will be done. Fingers still crossed! but some good news..Some great news actually
December 5, 200519 yr Thanks everyone :ausb: FiFi is doing well, he's back with PePi and as clingy as ever He's just on some powdered antibiotics for 6 weeks (both are as a precaution)..... Sleeps abit but looking better... Ps $190 later but i couldn't let it be as he has too much character...
December 5, 200519 yr Oh, that's great to hear. Of course you couldn't let it go, these little guys become members of the family
December 5, 200519 yr Good to hear that, just spent over $400 with my lovebird and roseybourke at the vets this week so must scale down on Christmas, they are worth it, I know people wrinkle up their noses and look at you strangely but they are worth it. :ausb: Edited December 5, 200519 yr by Bea
December 20, 200519 yr Hi guy's, Bad News, FiFi passed away the other day The same way as the last one with feces stuck on his bottom and only just alive in the morning and died in my arms.... I feel i have done everything correctly and i am thinking it must of had worms... I will leave PePi on his own for a few weeks to make sure he is healthy before i introduce a new budgie.. They are wild tamed budgies, and the next one i get will be handbred i think as there is less chance of a disease.. It's a real shame as he had so much character.... On the posotive PePi has become more responsive now that he is on his own. My wife was out the back with both and PePi flew up onto the garage and she rushed in and put FiFi away, and when she came back out he was on the pergola..Talk about a close call.. I have since clip his wings..(Laughing out loud)
December 20, 200519 yr I'm really sorry to hear about your loss. By the way, when you say your wife was out the back with both, what do you mean? Budgies (even clipped ones) shouldn't be allowed outdoors without either being in a cage or wearing a harness especially for budgies.
December 21, 200519 yr :ausb: I am so sorry to hear about Fifi's passing, I thought he/she was out of the woods as there hadn't been a post in a while. :rip: Fifi, your owner cared about you a lot and tried to help you get well, many poor birds don't even have that chance. :bluebudgie:
December 21, 200519 yr I am sorry for your loss. :bluebudgie: You may find that it wasn't worms. It could have been a problem with her liver or kidneys. But for all those reading. Please worm your birds regularly. I worm every two months.
December 24, 200519 yr Thanks Lovey, Bea, Phoebe, Daz.. There wasn't much i could do.. Bea they were sitting on her shoulder while she was sitting out in the patio..I take pepi outside sometimes (he sat on my shoulder for about an hour while i talked to my neighbour)... What are the main Dangers apart from predators...
