Posted November 24, 200519 yr I'm planning on fixing the birdies some sweet potatoes (without all the sugary stuff) and rice tomorrow and hanging a sprig of millet (AFTER they've had time to eat their taters and rice)... Anyone else planning something special for their birds?
November 24, 200519 yr Not for thanksgiving as Im English but it will be Candys first birthday on Tuesday so I will be making some sort of birdie bread and seed treats for them all to have.
November 24, 200519 yr Hey Risha, did you get the snow out there. We have about 3 inches and still falling in Ohio, I will have to take pics. As for a feast , I am going to do the regular thing chop up all the good stuff mix with seed and hope he eats it

November 25, 200519 yr For xmas all the budgies get seed treats. The outside budgie get a giant seed ring which Gerri usually sits in the middle and hogs it.
November 25, 200519 yr Pixie I only seem to find the US version with corn mix, Im wondering if I could use a regular muffin mix and add seeds and veggies and make them as buns. Would that work do you think?
November 25, 200519 yr the birdies liked the mashed up sweet potato and rice. I added a touch of cinnamon to it because the beak appetite that they have had smelled cinnamony and I thought it would be familiar to them. I guess it worked. *side note... why doe Mae have to stand IN the food dish to eat?
November 25, 200519 yr Hi Moonshadow and happy belated thanksgiving! Im originally from New York, but have been living in Australia for 7 years and it freaked me out yesterday to realize that it was Thanksgiving and I hadnt even realized it! Very twilight zone! Anyway - sweet potatoes - good tip! Thanks for sharing! Here in Australia, things we call 'squash' in the USA are called 'pumpkin' (insert head scratching icon here) My birds all love pumpkin/squash - cooked or raw - I just mention it in case youd like to try them too (sorry if you already have, Im still new to the board ) Cheers, Lavender
