Posted November 22, 200519 yr These are not for nesting but to snuggle up and stay warm, what are your thoughts about them? I have a male, so I wouldn't be worred about nesting behavior would I? They look cozy and perfect for those cold nights. My worry would be that he wouldn't use it.
November 22, 200519 yr I don't think he will use it either. Possibly only to nest in but not for sleeping in. I may be wrong though!
November 22, 200519 yr You have to be careful with these sorts of products as although the materials they are made with are normally non-toxic there is a risk of choking and snagging, so it's best not to use them un-supervised.
November 22, 200519 yr they are designed for larger birds like cockatoos that would be more inclined to use them, there is always a risk with them though.
November 22, 200519 yr Author excellent points and there were things that were in the back of my mind I appreciate everyone view.
November 23, 200519 yr No, she doesn't, she likes to lay her eggs on the floor. I have reduced her hours of light, and currently she has stopped laying eggs , as her 'mate' in her eyes, is my 14 year old son :ausb: She definately sleeps in it, as soon as it looks like I am going to cover her up she hops in her bed! Till recently she didn't even poo on it, now she has done a couple on the outside, but none inside She's such a clean bird

January 11, 200619 yr hahaha lin what does he think of it?lovey it sounds brill i would love to have one but wil they use it and if its safe?
January 11, 200619 yr they are designed for larger birds like cockatoos that would be more inclined to use them, there is always a risk with them though. Actually, conures and parrotlets seem to get the most enjoyment out of them but there's always that risk of encouraging territorial and/or nesty behavior. I've never seen one with a cockatoo. I have a feeling it wouldn't last more than a few minutes with a 'too! :(Laughing out loud): It would be reduced to fluff. I have to agree, I don't think a budgie would use it for the purpose its intended for. They aren't the type of birds to enjoy cuddling up inside of things (except maybe some baby budgies).
