November 22, 200519 yr Hi, is it okay to feed Budgies Seedless Grapes? Thanks This link was posted by eterri on 11-3-05 about foods http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww18eii.htm It does mention grapes.
November 22, 200519 yr grapes are okay as a treat if your budgie will eat them. do not get grapes from CHILE as they contain particularly high amounts of pesticides. with any fruit i would recommend only feeding organic produce as most fruits are highly perishable and do have chemicals sprayed on them that washing alone will not remove. **topic moved** Edited November 22, 200519 yr by pixie25
November 22, 200519 yr Grapes are fine if from a country that doesn't use excessive amounts of pesticides. Find a local grower if possible.
November 22, 200519 yr When I used to feed grapes I would peel them for my birds first...... I must admit though, that after the post about all the birds that died from eating chilean grapes I have not fed any to my birds.
November 22, 200519 yr i cut the top off. they like to lick the juice. they prefer honeydew melon though.

November 22, 200519 yr You can try purple plums (only the flesh away from the pit - the pit is poisonous and the red "veins" that extend from it are too) and bananas too. Sometimes mine will eat those.
November 22, 200519 yr I've heard that too, but do you know why? Is it just due to the acid levels? I see many of the pet stores feed oranges to their birds and the birds all seem to enjoy them.
November 22, 200519 yr I believe it is something to do with the acidity of the fresh fruit which can upset a budgies digestive system and crop. However in small amounts I haven't found it to be a problem, just sticky feathers and furniture.
