Posted November 17, 200519 yr Hi, I have 4 x pure white budgies in a mixed large avairy, I wish to net them and place them into a breeding box. I can watch two of the whites feeding each other and they are paired, but I don't know which ones they are when I go into the avairy with a net and all bedlam ensues. How can I sex them? Thanks

Thanks I think the best way figure out the sex on the forums here is if you can get a good picture of their cere. These members are great about figuring it out, since the males stay pink and the females can turn to tan but also have white around the cere. I know someone with more experience will step in here. By The Way welcome.
November 17, 200519 yr Do they have red eyes? If they have red eyes then the males will have pink ceres and the females will have brown or tan or possibly very light bluish white ceres. If they have black eyes then i'm pretty sure the males will have blue ceres and the females will have brown, tan or light blue ceres (same with all females regardless of colour). Hope this helps.
November 19, 200519 yr Sorry I didn't reply sooner, my email notification for threads isn't working. They sit and feed each other all the time just in front of me when I feed the aviary spinach, my wife had an idea of putting some non toxic food die into a water pistol and squirting it on them to colour them for easy recognition when I go to catch them.....could this work?
November 19, 200519 yr it might, if the colour is strong enough to show up in one hit. Why not remove all four white one into a smaller pen then find the pair (using the spray if needed) to break into twos.
