Hi,

Im new to keeping budgies (had mine 8 months)

I was told to feed a little egg food, moistened with water on top of seed.

So this is what I do

1. a good think layer of seed

2. on top of that two or three small spoonfuls of eggfood mixed with a little water (so its not runny)

3. Then mix egg foood with some more seed.

4., Place eggfood and seed on top of the think layer of seed.

My birds go mad for it.

Hope this is some help

i will try that also, thankyou johnny

i just like to feel that Teapot is eating all the right foods that he needs to keep him in the best possible health. (oddly enough, he has developed a liking for curry, maybe i need to find some curry-flavoured egg food, (Laughing out loud)! )

:lol::):lol: :(Laughing out loud):

Where's my curried egg? :(

I keep lots of egg and biscuit mix...Mainly because I have 2 3yr+ rats, and 2 young-ish rats that need fattening up.

Isn't egg mix for abandonded baby budgies? How much warm water should be mixed in for budgies? My bags only have it for cockies...

Mix just enough to make it crumbly.

I mix it with the vegies. Some like it some don't....picky birds :)

I feed mine dry.

Wow, this was an old thread! Mine used to not touch it, but they eat it now. I feed it dry, mixed in with their pellet mix. It disappears from the seed cup first, so I guess they like it.

None of mine eat it. 'Good for breeding hens' anyone can tell me how do you get any of them to go near it??

Have you tried adding it to the top of their regular food mix?

have you tried different brands or enen making your own

I found none of mine touched it until they had babies, and I wasn't quick enough to fill up the seed  Now they will eat it in preference to the seed :)

Its a firm favourite with all my budgies, mine eat it dry and I agree with Lin they prefer it over the seed.

Call me silly what is eggfood (do you make it or do you buy it) and is it necessary?

Thanks

When the eggfood tub comes out mine fly out the cage and sit in the box eating it before it's even been dished up

I did try putting a tiny bit of water with it but they won't touch it...they only like it dry too

Eggfood adds additional protein. You can make it or buy it. I use Quiko because I can get it readily. It's the only brand I ever see, but there are others. If you ever go to bird fairs some vendors make their own mixture and you can buy it like that too. I've never made it before. They get a little bit most every day, and scarf it up pretty quickly. :D

I feed it to add variety to the diet, but I think most people feed it to breeding birds.

In the food and nutrition section there's a link to how to make it for yourself rather then spending heaps at a pet shop.
