Failed Clutch

Featured Replies

I checked the nest box this morning to see how the last two eggs where going. I found 1 dead chick and the other egg missing. The chick must have hatch through the night and didn't make it. :D

Well as promised Bluey and Spangle, this was there 2nd round and I said I would rest them. So I gave them both a kiss on the back of the head and put them back in the aviary. Tiny, one of their first chicks, must still remember them as he flew straight to them.

Well it's november and I will try one last time. The temperature is still okay. and I have given Ash and Cinnamon one go. If nothing by the end of November. Back in the Aviary and breeding will stop until March 06.

Not a good start.

9 eggs. 4 chicks (2 dead), 5 broken eggs

One failed pairing.....I am not counting Huey and Greeny as Huey turned out to be a female. :fear

Hugs Daz...it will be better next time.

That's awful Daz, I'm so sorry for you.

I'm sorry, hopefully next time around you'll get luckier. :fear

No the last try this season is for Cinnamon and Ash. I hope they go okay. I think it will be too hot other wise.

hope you did your maths Daz, 18 days for the eggs (starting from now) then a month in the box to grow it will not be until the middle of December almost christmas before the babes are coming out of the box and learning to fly. I hope you have a cool spot in the house for them to be set up in.

Silly me, must be the humidity. On reading the title of your topic Daz I was wondering what your clutch failing had to do with budgie varieties & genetics! :rip:

Sorry to hear your bad news  ....better luck next time.

Must have something to do with our climate, I'm getting more failed eggs than chick too.

This time around, between 4 hens, I had 26 eggs and so far 8 babies.

Cindy
