Posted October 29, 200519 yr It is getting cold over here in Ohio..brrr We usually keep our heat pretty low because of the cost of gas anymore. I usually keep it around 68 during the day and 65 at night, is this too cold for our budgie? I just want to make sure he doesn't get sick. I do cover him at night. Elly
October 29, 200519 yr They should be fine. As long as you're okay, your birds are okay, generally. The only worry comes when the temperature is extremely high or extremely low or if it fluctuates from one extreme to the other too quickly. Gradual changes are fine. All sounds well!
October 29, 200519 yr Extremely high temps are no problem for budgies. The wild budgies live in areas that get up to 45deg c in summer with little or no water. But as eterri said they don't like quick changes in temperature.
October 29, 200519 yr Author Well we don't have to worry about extreme hot here in Ohio for at least 6 month 9 months...brrr.....I was just worried about the cold . Thank you daz.

How cold does it get there Lovey? Well it depends, they say here in Ohio wait 24 hours and you will be in a different season and that is true. One day it can be 30 the next 70. Last year we had a snowstorm on May 25 that dumped about 24inches of snow, and the next day I was shoveling snow in 50's. Our husky, Niketa was in heaven everyone else was saying some you know words : We can get in the single digits, rare to be below but average is usually around 25-30 in the winter here. Today is the first time we really had a nice day with sun in the 50's so I just had to get out to the park with the kids before we are stuck in side. We also get a lot of the aftermath's of the hurriciane's that hit down in Florida and even in H. Katrina. We get the rain rain and rain...but those should be over soon we hope right. They already have a H. Betta just crazy.
October 29, 200519 yr Brrr... it is getting cold here... It usually goes below zero Fahrenheit here though for at least a couple of days each winter. The National Weather Service says a mild winter, but I don't believe it. We just got an inch or two of snow Way too early!
October 30, 200519 yr Author Snow no no, yes you are up from us and the New England states usualy get hit more. Just have to love the Lake affect from Lake Erie too....BRRR... We don't want snow yet
October 31, 200519 yr You guys will have to remind me....snow is that soft white stuff that falls from the sky. The closest I get to snow to the ice in the freezer. The coldest it gets in Brisbane is 4deg c (40deg f) in winter at Night. Day time it does get down to 18 deg C (65 deg f)
October 31, 200519 yr SOFT?? Snow isn't soft, and like rain, it's very rarely if ever heated! It usually only appears when it's below freezing air temp, and last time I went out in it, I got all wet!!

Is it really hot? we go up to about 100 F, but we've gone up to 115 this summer SOFT?? Snow isn't soft, and like rain, it's very rarely if ever heated! You tend to get very wet, especially if you go sleeding for 5 straight hours I didn't have a dry peice of clothing
