*fingers crossed, because it was a guess*

Giving time for others to guess first but Shell I'm after a type not the colour. In this case colour has nothing to do with what I'm after. But you are right green is dominant over blue.

I'll say 3. too

Just so people know, there are 2 dominant pieds in the 4 pics up there. :P

I dunno I was looking for iris rings, none of them have any. I will go for the 2 identical babies but thats really just a guess.

darn Bea that was a bonus if someone picked up that :P

Can i throw in a funny one....Green is not a colour in budgies. It is a perception. :P But that is another lesson Nerwen can do. leseratte.gif

I think (?)

1 Dominant Pied Sky Blue Male

2 Recessive Pied Sky Blue Males

3 Dominant Pied Violet (Opaline?) Female

4 Recessive Pied Green Male

less i got something right ;) i will have to do more reading i think :book:

shell

okay I am not good with the colors but from what I have read and I just acquired a Pied ;) In fact the first one in the second picture looks like our budgie alot.

1 and 3 are Dominant can say I say why? :D

Edited by lovey

okay i will say 1 and 3 beacuse the other 2 picture`s the budgies would be recessive pied beacuse they have orange beaks and pink feet

did i get it that time?

shell

okay, now I am doing it from my remember what I read (Laughing out loud) because that would only be fair

1. The cere on the male is blue, on recessive they stay pink

2. The patch or spot on the back of their head, recessive don't have that

3. and the band that goes across their chest is also dominate trait?

oh and I remember one more thing that Pixie25 said to me about my bird

4. The iris ring but you can't see that in them until they are older but my bird could be a double factor dominate pied that looks recessive? (Laughing out loud)...and would develop the iris ring, I think I got that right too? Maybe not..

I hope I am right :)...I just did it from memory.

Good eye, for noticing the cere color on #1. :) I think most people don't.

But all pieds will have the spot, recessive or not.

Isn't it more dominate like my pied is broken at the end while the more dominate has the stripes all the way around with the color in the middle? Like a bald spot?? :)

Lovely and HurdyBirdy outstanding work :D you get the gold stars.

Lin, Caren and Shell win the silver star

picture numbers one and 3 are the dominant pieds. The first is a double factor making it look like a recessive but as Lovely say he has a blue cere. Pink and ornage beaks are a thing to look for in a recessive but not the only thing. Number 3 has those traits but is a dominant pied.

Now any other question about pieds?

Edited by Nerwen

Okay, could you go through the pictures and explain. I don't think I understand what is dominant and what is recessive - oh heck, I'll be honest I know I don't understand!

Nerwen Put the photos in your reply post and explain each one. Please :D

Oh and for those with a good eye pick the gender in Photo 2. Colbalt recessive and Sky Blue recessive Pieds

  • Author

1. CloudDFDomPied.jpg

Double factor Pied, the colour of the cere marks it clearly as a dominate over recessive becuase it is the normal blue, other sign are the small patch of colour around the throat.

2. Aviary-010.jpg

Both Recessive, the cere colours are that of a baby budgie. plus the birhgt pink feet and orange beak, with the colour at the base of the bird rather than the chest. Also uneven baring at the back of the head.

3. BerryDomPied.jpg

The pied spot. Dominants are mostly the ones with the clearly marked 'bald' patch. The colour on the body is in a band like pattern with a line ont he chest and on the under belly.

4. razzle-006.jpg

Like the second one, the bright feet and beak and the colour only found on the base of the birds belly.

how is that Daz? Also I believe someone already stated about the ceres.

Thanks Nerwen. I don't know if I'd ever be able to pick the last one, but the other 3 are starting to make sense! And Daz, I would say boy is the sex in the second picture, because I can't see any white, and I know pieds don't show like normal birds. Is that right, for the right reason?

Farout, I have no freaking idea! I'll have to do alot of reading. I've heard of heaps of the different colour variations of budgies but I have NEVER understood the Pied variations.. So confusing, well at least for lil ol me :(

*claps* yes Lin that right :( The fourth was a hard one because of the flash glare on the body, but that was why I picked it :) made you look hard.
