Fact Or Fiction?

A friend told me that along time ago a well known bird seed company put up a prize of a lifetime supply of seed for the first person to breed a pink Budgie. Is this true or false and if it is true does the challenge and the prize still stand? Thanks :)

Me neither, but you get pink Bourkes, and Julie you appear to have a pink budgie now. :D

I've heard that some people have hybridized Bourkes and budgies to make red birds, but so far, no authentic budgie has had red pigment. Budgies don't have red pigment. But who knows: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=4810

I'm not sure its possible... :D

You could sell a pink budgie for a fortune anyway! :D

I can't see it happening, not in my lifetime any way :)

As to the bet, it seems like there is one out there, i've never heard it of it before.
