Posted October 24, 200519 yr UPDATE: the four oldest babies are now out of the nest box and in a cage of their own, they had to be seperated from mum because she was attacking them. they are doing really well and are going to their new homes at the end of the week. the two youngest bluebell and angel (bluebell turned out to be violet by the way) are still in the nestbox. but what did i discover thismorning.... an egg, dasiy is laying again. i cant bring my self to destroy the eggs and give her fake ones. and take away the babies chance of life. but at the same time can she cope, she is looking very healthy physically. what do i do?? we go away next week so the birds are going to stay with my nan. they normally cope very well with the 5 min car journey but i know there is a chance she will abandon them, what is the best way to move them? they have such bad timing (Laughing out loud). can anyone help?
October 24, 200519 yr if this is her second round then she will be fine as for moving obviously i would not recommend it but if you have to put a blanket over the top and move them as gently as possible
October 24, 200519 yr This is her second round so thanks for putting my mind at rest hath, as for moving them, i wish i didnt have to, i wasnt planning to have babies in the nest when i went away. but she couldnt be predictable (Laughing out loud). she tolerates me cleaning the nest box etc sp hopefully she wont abandon them. on a good note the other babies are thriving
October 27, 200519 yr Christabelle when you move the cage you can take the eggs out and put them in a box with tissues, then put them back in the nest when you get there. Good luck :feedbirds:

November 14, 200519 yr well luckily she seems to have stopped at 7 eggs thank god and they are all fertile. i wasnt sure she could cope with anymore
November 15, 200519 yr Congratulations christabelle on your babies and the eggs. Your parents have alot of work in front of them. Good Luck. I'd say your little violet baby is a cobalt as he/she does not have violet cheek patches. Violet is a dominant colour and you need a violet to get violet.. But very cute anyway..
