Posted October 16, 200519 yr Reported in our local paper and I talked to one of the yachtsmen involved....... Breezy Saturday afternoon and the yachts were racing out in the West Passage off Newport in a stiff Easterly breeze. One yacht - with everyone sitting on the rail as mobile ballast landed a budgie who had clearly been blown off the land and out to sea and who was on his last wing as he flopped aboard, exhausted and right onto the shoulder of one of the crew. The bird was bundled down below into a locker for the remainder of the race and later taken to the local animal shelter. Tuesday morning at the shelter (it is closed Mondays): "We came to see if you had any budgies - ours flew away this weekend........" You can guess the rest - It is absolutely true - they got their bird back. Ring, photography and a few words the bird knew confirmed it was really theirs.... October 25, 200519 yr that reminds me of a story in japan that was on the news in japan an old lady had a budgie and she forgot her window was open and he flew away somebody found him and thought the local kindergarten might like him as a pet a few days later he started saying his name and an addresss they checked the address and sure enough he is back home with the old lady
October 26, 200519 yr When that first budgies wings tired, I reckon the Angels took over and and carried him to that boat. He certainly had help from some form of higher power. Wonderful to read. Same with the other ladies budgie. Anne
October 30, 200519 yr Those are both very sweet stories, but it's sad when you hear of people completely losing their friend
