Posted October 3, 200519 yr I have a problem I thought this was a male... But it's behaviour is a little strange. He seem to "nest" in the seed container. That is the female to his right. http://home.gil.com.au/~dwellsadsl/Images/Duey.jpg He's/Her cere. Is he a he or a she??????? Help
October 3, 200519 yr I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say female - that's how Winkie looked a couple of weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure he's had a sex change!
October 3, 200519 yr Author I'm hoping for Male .....that means I am down a male I don't suppose two females will breed........I didn't think so ............. ..................I know I'll go to the pet store. That always cheers me up :glare:
October 3, 200519 yr If its any help, my two male 'tiels have been behaving 'effeminately', nesting, huddling their rear ends into corners, looking like they are about to lay. Apparently the males will do this nesting behaviour at times to entice the hen, by showing her what a good carer and nest builder he is. Id imagine the same thing could apply to budgies.
October 4, 200519 yr Author Thank everyone. I'll have to drop in to Pet City today and look for another male. By the time quarentine is up we will be heading towards summer. This one is going to hot. So I wanted to start the breeding before it got too hot for the birds. Here today forcast. BRISBANE METROPOLITAN AREA Morning fog then mostly fine, a possible shower this evening as moderate to fresh NW winds shift cooler SE'ly. Brisbane Maximum ... 31 Bayside Maximum ... 29 UV INDEX - 7 [High] Wednesday ... Fine. MIN 18 MAX 28 Thursday ... Fine and hot. MIN 17 MAX 33 Friday ... Fine MIN 19 MAX 27 This is the beginning of the second month of spring. Summer is not due till another 8 weeks. Karen, Nerwen I think we will be looking at 40degs
October 4, 200519 yr Wow, it is going to be hot! It looks like we're heading for the other extreme... We hit freezing yesterday and its barely fall. I hope we get lots of snow! We had a hot summer this year too- it hit 115 F (46 C) two days in a row in August!
October 4, 200519 yr Author okay I did it. I when to Pet City and found a male........ :dbb1: that doesn't sound right coming from me. Here he is. Please meet Ash Normal Grey I believe. He's started quarantine today so will be out until November. okay heres the plan "A"..... 1. I keep Huey and Greeny in the breeding box till Monday Week. Thats nearly two weeks. Razzle will be out of Quarentine by then. 2. If nothing has happened between them, they both go back into the Aviary with Razzle. 3. 30 days from today Ash goes into the Aviary to say hello to Greeny, Huey and Razzle. 4. Five days latter I put Greeny back into the Breeding Cage for 3 days 5. I introduce Ash to Greeny and we see what happens. Now if by some means Huey is a male and he and Greeny goes okay. Well.....Plan B :dbb1: 1. 30 days from today Ash goes into the Aviary to say hello to Razzle. Edited October 5, 200519 yr by daz
October 4, 200519 yr :(Laughing out loud): Daz I hope it's all will all work out :dbb1: And Ash is a looker, now you don't have to 'rent' Karen's gray
October 4, 200519 yr Good thing there was confusion with gender cause i looove Ash!!! I so want a grey budgie!
October 4, 200519 yr He is gorgeous. All the grey budgies I see are huge, my Bobby is teeny compared to them.
October 4, 200519 yr He's a looker! But Daz, are you sure the "gender confusion" isn't really just a reason to get more budgies???? :feedbirds: I was noticing on all the greys...I love the color of the cheek flashes.
October 4, 200519 yr Yes those bits of colour really show up beautifully against the grey. And they all do seem to be quite big like Boomberry said.
October 4, 200519 yr I LOVE grey budgies. Ash is beautiful. I thought about calling my new little beast Ashes.. Budge2 looks just like Pretty(my first budgie) did
October 5, 200519 yr Author Mmmm nice grey daz-looks just like Budgy2! I love the look of him Julie. He looks like he is enjoying thing. He's a looker! But Daz, are you sure the "gender confusion" isn't really just a reason to get more budgies???? :feedbirds: I was noticing on all the greys...I love the color of the cheek flashes. .......what are you implying rainbow. Are you saying that I would use such a lame idea of an incorrect gender to go racing out to get another budgie? That I would wantingly try to purchase more budgies on the grounds that the gender ratio was possibly incorrect. That I would at any time........... :budgiedance: Oh alright you got me....I did I did...........but isn't he cute I am really hoping that Huey is a male. But time will tell. :bluebudgie:
