October 5, 200519 yr The mom is Opaline green , what color is the dad? By the way, they are looking great. Â Â Dad is an opline sky blue!! Â Well done on the babies christabelle, they are gorgeous.. I'm glad you have blue ones..
October 5, 200519 yr They are all precious. I like your names too. I had a few that were un-named for about a month or so! I just called them third bird and fourth bird. The names will come to you, don't worry.
October 5, 200519 yr thanks, its gonna be heartbreaking to sell them but they have homes waiting for them. 3 opaline greens and three opaline blue
October 6, 200519 yr That's great that they may already have homes. I'd imagine it's really hard to let them go... I hope that they will all have happy lives with their new owners when its time. Will you be able to visit any of them? Are you keeping any of the babies for yourself?
October 6, 200519 yr i really wish that i could keep some, my favourite is peep, they are all hand tame but peep is stupidly tame (Laughing out loud). i dont have an avery just 1 pair of budgies in a big cage in my bedroom so i cant keep any. October 7, 200519 yr The eldest baby is going to look exactly the same as Frankie!!!! You're so lucky to have so many babies!! Â Oh, Frankie is a lovely looking bird! Every time I see that picture of him I go 'ohhhhh'. To havve a baby Frankie! Wow, wish I could have it!
October 7, 200519 yr peep looks identical to frankie and has his personality too. i wish i could give him 2 u lin but im not sure he'd survive the trip from the uk to australia (Laughing out loud)
October 8, 200519 yr well i got home from my driving lesson to find peep out of the nest box. he was on the cage floor in a corner looking very scared so i put him back in the nest box. i dont think he can fly yet, he is only just perching
October 10, 200519 yr he is just 4 weeks so i think hes nearly ready. i out him back in the box and he hasnt tried again since
October 11, 200519 yr peep was out again today. he is about 5 weeks now. i left him there for a few hours but he still cant fly so he just stayed at the bottom of the cage. i put him on the perch closest to the nes earlier on and he jumped straight back in :feedbirds:
October 12, 200519 yr My favourite stage of development in baby budgies is when they are trying to figuire out how to balance on a perch. Blinks took several days and after a week or so he could even scratch his head and stand on a perch at the same time! It took him so many tries to do that. Edited October 12, 200519 yr by Bea
October 15, 200519 yr okay my babies havnt fledged yet, but already frankie and daisy are mating again. i wanted to give them a break (Laughing out loud)
October 16, 200519 yr Not a lot you can do, except destroy the eggs. I wouldn't remove them, as she will just lay more. You can put them in the fridge for 20 minutes, shake them really hard, or replace with fake eggs. As soon as the babies fledge remove the box. Whilst laying eggs takes it out of the hen, raising the chicks is far more stressful on her, so that's the best you can do. She might be like my hen, that throws the eggs out anyway.
October 16, 200519 yr Yes as Lin said replace them with fake eggs. If you throw them away and the chicks are still in the box she might lay more.
October 16, 200519 yr i dont know if i have the heart to kil them. but leaving them could harm the hen this is her second cluch in 5 months so she needs a rest i might ask my partner to do it (Laughing out loud)
