i have literally watched 2budgies mating, then straight after the hen flew to the floor walked to the corner of the aviary and laid her head on the ground, bum up, her feathers arent fluffed at all but she lay there still, after 5 minutes of this i got worried and went inside i picked her up she wouldnt normally let me do this, and i held her, i have brought her im ny house and phoned the vet, he said it could be normal he has no experience with birds, but she may have had some kind of shock or worse still a seizure, im cradling her now in my arms, her breathing is normal still not ruffled but just laying still, its heartbreaking, he said just keep her warm she may come roiund, has this happened to anyone else please, please can anyone help

no help needed anymore, she just died in my arms....too gutted to talk sorry

I knoe i cant help . Try feeding it and see if she will eat some. Are you sure shes not trying to lay an egg? Hang in there and see if you can get it to the vet?

Sorry to here that but it sounds similar to how Azul (blue) died

Oh dawn, how awful,I wonder what on earth happened?

Oh Dawn! Again I am speechless. Thankfully she wasn't alone at the end, but was in the warmest, most sensitive and loving pair of hands any bird could wish for. My thoughts are with you Dawn

THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR VERY KIND WORDS! I went up there last night and Randall her mate was calling for her, been up this morning and he flew to the mesh to me and he was calling for her agian, they have been inseperable since may this year, she will be very sadly missed. When Meg came home last night i told him what had happened i was crying, and Cooper told him i was crying because Donkey was sleeping and looked cute, he even asked me if i was going to get her a blanket, so i got a tea towel and wrapped her up in it so she was 'warm while she was sleeping' he told me to put her back in the cage so she could 'sleep' it was so awful, i had to wait until he was in bed before i could bury her, because i didnt want to explain to him what i was doing, i know he will ask where she is when he notices, and then i will hav eto come up with something.

i have enclosed a photo of her with Randall, and also one of them literally a minute before it happened.

Oh Dawn, I'm so sad for you, and for Randall as well. Randall is a gorgeous bird, I'm sure he'll find another hen to console him.

From the photo Dawn,my immediate thought is was she injured in the mating in some way-perhaps internally?

Oh....

My condoleances!!!!!!

it is such a sad story!!!!!

I wish there could be somthing i could have done...

What a tragedy....

All of my sympathies are with you and i will pray for you all.
