stop press-chickweed found!

Yes! It's true! I've found some chickweed growing in our local graveyard(don't ask!).

I'm pretty sure it hasn't recently been sprayed by the council but I know that it won't be the safest thing to give my birds at the moment.So-my question is this:-

I've potted some up and brought it home. If I was to leave it till it seeded and then let it spread itself in the pot,do you think that next seasons chickweed would be safe to use?

Julie

yes im sure it will. Why not plant it in the garden? I have and i now have a healthy supply for gooby.

But doesn't it really take over though?

not really. go for it jules

Can you buy it anywhere I have no idea what it looks like or where to get it?

It's actually a garden weed but budgies seem to love it.I'm wondering if maybe we could send you some seeds? But I'm not sure when they apppear?

Have you got a picture? It might be called by different names in different places

I think it's mostly found on waste ground really,(hence the graveyard!)

But doesn't it really take over though

not really. go for it jules

it spreads like wild fire if you put it into a garden put it in a corner that you dont mind losing i use to feed it all the time you just cant get it up here anymore due to most gardeners spraying it

Thanks I think I will probably contain it.If you start up again do you want some seeds hath?

Julie
