okay... most of you know my Merlybutts story already but just incase this is the bit thats causing us trouble now, after the conversation i just had with our vets....

When Merly was sick the first time round, she had to have a course of antibiotics, one a week for three weeks we were told as the normal course was six but being a budgie, didn't think six was required. So not a problem did that, and had the option of a fourth, but didnt think it was needed. Then she got sick again, which is another story which you all know..

ANYWAY

Today there was some discharge on the cere. We still have Baytril, so I figure why not give her some of that in case it helps.... I phoned the vets to have a chat as well just to be on the safe side. The vet I spoke to was NOT the same vet who did the injections, she proceeded to say that the other vet had noted that Merlin had a reaction to the injection sites (well she didn't tell me!!!!) which is why she probably didn't say anything about more injections.. She said he wouldn't need six so we didn't follow through as he was healthy again.... Now this vet P says that he should have had them, so it could be why he's sick again now... and due to the reaction he had, she said she can make up some medicine to put in the water for 45 days to see if that helps. So it obviously means they would suggest more injections.

I wish all the vets would follow the same ideas, it would make it so less confusing, we have THREE vets who have looked at Merly, maybe I need to choose one :(Laughing out loud):

So Merlygirly is going to be on Baytrill until Mum can go down and pick up this dolextra or something weird that will go into the water daily for 45 days. If over this period of time, the symptoms get worse or have not cleared at the end of the 45 day period, we'll have to go back into the vets with lil budge. She doesn't see the point in bringing her in when shes eating, and chirping and being normal with a small amount of snot and it's not like they'll be able to find out whats wrong anyway!

So fingers crossed we get ontop of it for once and for all... At least this trip will be cheaper as it's minus the bird

Aww not again , that poor little girly I hope this time she can finally shift this thing she has. Glad she is in good spirits though. Keep up posted!

Yeah I will. She may be in good spirits, but I am quite annoyed.. I won't say stupid vets because they are anything but stupid, all three of them are the reason she's still alive, I just wish we had been told that she had to have all doses, not finding it out when she's crook a third time. Never mind, we'll knock it on the head one day. She's all medicated and tucked up in bed with a heater.

Goodness me, that poor little mite! Check with the vet this time - ask if their sure treatment is finished. Then ring and ask another vet!

Yes I definitely will be checking with ALL three this time :(Laughing out loud): not just the one that treated her... they all seem to have differing opinions...

Well, I suppose we all learnt something at poor Merlin's expense. :(

Yeah :( But P didn't seem too concerned, so I'm going to try not to stress.. its just frustrating, we JUST got on top of the last one... and now this *sigh*

*is being positive*

Oh I really don't know what to say-poor both of you.

Julie

Well we know she's a fighter and you've jumped on it straight away...let's hope this is the last hurdle little Merls has to face!

I wish mum would make up her mind... This morning she has decided that we'll send her back off to the vets to do MORE tests to try and work out whats going on. I bet its the cage... I just hope we can afford both the cage and the vet(well hopefully she wont need it)
