Posted August 5, 200519 yr I was just wondering if the loud noise from a chainsaw chopping down the gum tree would be traumatic to my budgies. The tree is reight near the aviary but i only have one other cage that definitely would not fit 15 budgies in it. Do you think they'll be alright? Should i cover them while it's being cut down so they can't see what's happening?
August 5, 200519 yr I dunno Bea, my vaccum is really noisy and my birds shout at me everytime I use it but they arent scared. I would definitely cover them though.
August 5, 200519 yr cover up the part of the aviary that can see the tree if you can start the chain saw away from the aviary and bring it slowly closer if you have birds with eggs or chicks i would try and wait if you can
August 5, 200519 yr Author None of the birds outside have eggs or chicks. Only Razzo and Budge do and they are in my bedroom. We're getting it done by professionals because it's grown into the powerlines and could be dangerous but i'll see if we can arange for the chainsaw to be started away from the aviary. I just remembered that dad has used the lawnmower and a whipper snipper right beside the aviary and neither of those scared them. I'll still be sure to cover them though.
August 5, 200519 yr you answered my question, do you use the mower.... i would say if they can handle the mower they would be okay with the noise. it would be the falling branches that may freak them out. everytime i use the hoover, my conure yells and then take a bath! EVERYTIME!!!
August 5, 200519 yr Author Whenever i use a vaccum cleaner Blinkie goes nuts...happy nuts though, he seems to really like the noise.
August 5, 200519 yr I have to sing to the lorikeet whenever I use the vaauum. Could be because she hears it so rarely! (Laughing out loud). she now looks at me if I'm not singing, as if to say 'Where's my song?'.
