Fighting, Bulling or Balding ?

One of my birds Pip, has something going on with his feathers, you know the blue bit above the beak, its just above that, It looks like either theres feathers missing or the feathers are turning brown at the bottom, its hard to get a good look.

Could it be a Diet thing ?

Is he moulting? In a really heavy moult they get really scruffy around there and it can look funny. However, if it's concerning you then a trip to the vet is definitely a must. :D

It looks today like "staining" blood, dirt maybe, But its definetley not growing out with the feathers

If it's blood then you should probably get it checked by a vet. It could be something serious.

Question : what does it look like when birds start/are molting ?

They are starting to look a bit tatty in other areas, little white shafts sticking through their feathers.

That's what they look like! And little spikey heads.

Could have been Jasper of course! :) You can tell it's Bobby cause he has no cheek spots. :D

Oh of course forgot about Jaspy so I was totally wrong! He a cutey pie even all scraggy!

From a different angle Jasper is super easy to tell apart from Budgie and Bobby. He has to little black bits on his wings. :)

I supose it would. I get confused still at times so if you didn't even know them it would be even more tricky! :)

I guess it would, I was only guessing by the piccies Ive seen anyways - wasnt a bad guess was Budgies son afterall hehe.

So what does molting look like ? its hard to tell from the picture, It looks now like little white shafts sticking through their feathers.

Oh ! and in the bottom of the cage this morning was one of their really long tail feathers, but i can't tell from which bird.

When birds are moulting they can look prety bad as if they are ill,

Dont worry about a bird thats cere looks bad it a very common problem for them to look as if they are bleeding ,

But it is just a hormonual change,

Birds arenormally okay during this moult and can look very ill when shedding feathers,

Just remember if there is no blood present then youre bird is probaly okay ,

But if you find wet blood then there is proberley a problem and the best thing is to seek veternary advice.GILL
