Posted June 8, 200519 yr Maxwells beak seems to be developing a bright yellow colour at the bottom - Ive not noticed this with any of my other birds. Is it anything to worry about - could it be some sort of deficiency?
June 8, 200519 yr Author Ive just read somewhere that mites can make a budgies beak distort. Is there any other signs of mites?
June 8, 200519 yr airsac mites can cause a clicking sound when the budgie breathes, also can cause very rapid 'bobbing' of the tail, boomery.
June 8, 200519 yr I'd vote mites as well, although they can be tough to diagnose, I'd say a trip to the vet is in order they usually use something cause ivomec which is 2-3 treatments and much safer than products you can get elsewhere, also cheaper in the long run- good luck let us knowof any progress or new news
June 8, 200519 yr the bright yellow could simply be a pigmentation change, its difficult to say without seeing in first hand, but, as always when theres doubt, my advice is, *vet* Anne
June 9, 200519 yr Author To be honest he isnt acting strange and is eating and drinking well, no clicking sounds when breathing either or tail bobbing could be just a change in colour. I also said beak distortion was a sign - I thought it said discoloured hehe!
June 9, 200519 yr Author I'll try get one of him tonight - I think Im making a mountain out of a mole hill - it probably isnt half as bad as I think but I will attempt to catch the little rascal for peoples opinions.
