Hi,

 

Who can help me determine all of my budgie's mutations? Photos of Jupiter, who turns 1 this Sunday (8/3/14), are attached. I'm pretty sure some sort of pied, some sort of yellowface, and totally adorable are in the mix. :-)

 

Also, I've read that in some pied mutations, the male's cere doesn't turn blue. Might Jupiter be one of these mutations? "His" cere is not bright blue, but he exhibits male sexual behaviors and mimics my lovebird and my linnie, which makes me think he's a boy. I don't plan to breed so it doesn't really matter; I'm just curious.

I think i am going to put "him" in the too cute to identify basket. Very handsome.

I'm leaning toward it being a boy, His type is a "Yellow face blue Opaline Spangle Dominant Pied" bit of a mix, not sure what yellow face type or what color blue, perhaps sky blue and possibly yf type 2

If the cere has never gone brown and the budgie is now a year of age, it would have to be a male.

I would say a opaline yellow face T1. dominant pied, with either spangle or greywing

If Generic Blue says female, I'd say it's female !! One pretty bird either way.

I agree with you Budgie lover.. if the bird is over a year old or just turned one.. and cere hasn't turned brown.. then MALE as recessive pieds male cere stays pink its whole life..

 

I have a pied who is 3 years old and has a pink cere..
