Posted May 20, 200520 yr are there any pictures here of wild budgies? i know theres a lot of members here from australia, i was wondering if they hang out like our sparrows...in flocks?... ...never seen them in the wild before...how far has captive breeding gone regarding colouring? are wild birds only in a few colours?
May 20, 200520 yr Ive seen a few pictures cant remember where though I think the wild budgies are mostly green and yellow but dont quote me on that.
May 20, 200520 yr my parents went to austrailia a few years ago and they said they saw budgies in flocks all over. however my friend went last year and he said he never saw one.
May 20, 200520 yr quazzi wild budgerigars live in desert regions of Australia. Most of the population of Australia is on the coast. Maybe Luckysgal has seen wild budgies but I haven't.
May 20, 200520 yr We have flocks of wild parakeets in England quazzi, I know they are not budgies, but are related, they fly across the top of my house all the time - make quite a racket too!
May 20, 200520 yr We have flocks of wild parakeets in England quazzi, I know they are not budgies, but are related, they fly across the top of my house all the time - make quite a racket too! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> wow...i didnt know that! though my boyfriend told me he saw a dozen or so parrots flying free near oxford....i asked if he was sure they were parrots and they were definatly 'flying free' he recons they were!...so i guess its more common than i thought!
May 20, 200520 yr Ive heard about the parrots and parakeets around the London area too. Anyone know if Bourkes Parakeets make good pets - they have some at Pets At Home this week.
May 20, 200520 yr Calm down Boomery!!! - I thought you were just going to get a budgie!!! Where did the parakeet idea come from??????? We have several flocks of these parakeets around here - Surrey - my vet told me that they are not actually parakeets they are ring neck conures - what ever they may be  Bill Oddie did a programme about them on the TV - well part of the programme was about them. Apparently a couple of them got loose from an aviary .... and the rest is history!!!
May 20, 200520 yr wow that is soo cool, i would love to take a trip to surrey to see them! hehe boombery i was just saying in your other post that you wont be able to stop
May 20, 200520 yr Andy - sorry to disappoint you but all you see is a flash of green and the quick impression that they are not native birds - they fly so fast, on the plus side you can hear them coming for miles!!!!! :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): I must have missed Boomerys other post then!!!!
