October 28, 201113 yr Have another go should get it on, I got on eon Geoff's birds and it was just as old it was a struggle but it went on, try some oil on the leg.
October 28, 201113 yr I have coated a birds leg in oil before, then try the two toes forward two toes back method. I have had it work for me. Good luck
October 28, 201113 yr Also dipping the leg in vinegar apparently constricts the blood vessels making a skinnier foot and leg for rings to go on. .....so they say
October 28, 201113 yr If the vinegar thing is true, as soon as you get the leg ring on, wash off the vinegar i am thinking that the vinegar draw the fluid out of the leg, making it thinner. I am not too sure how that would work, as it is always the lump of the foot that causes the problem, where the toes all meet the foot/leg/ankle that causes the problems. never a fat leg issue -
October 29, 201113 yr Author hey guys tried to oil but no luck these guys have monster feet it seems....yeah the issue is were all the toes meet, did put a bit of force but didnt want to force anymore!! Vinegar also!!!! do I dip their toes in vinegar for awhile then try the ring last resort or else just leave...\Cheers!!
October 29, 201113 yr I am in the same boat as you , I did ring my dark green but his leg swelled up so had to cut his ring off at 4 weeks and boy his he a nice bird. It's a shame because I can't show him now and he is as good as the 2 I won the shields with , well almost. Not as long as the blue though but he is going to be handy with a or not.

You'll be able to show him as an Adult Splat, just not as a this year's young bird.
October 29, 201113 yr Place the leg in iced water for a few seconds, making sure the foot is totally clean, then pull the ring on. be brave you may graze the middle[fat part] of the foot, but it will heal in two days. I have done this many times even with chicks that have left the nest and are perching. This is NOT braking any rules as the rule states "the bird must be owner bred and rung" cheers Clearwing

October 29, 201113 yr Place the ring next to the bird, then visualise the ring going on the bird. Accroding to Oprah the universe will obey your comands if you believe it will happen.

October 30, 201113 yr Place the ring next to the bird, then visualise the ring going on the bird. Accroding to Oprah the universe will obey your comands if you believe it will happen. After a few Beers Im going to try this on an old bird. On second thoughts, Might start with a young good looking one at the pub , never know might just picture up the ONE!!
October 30, 201113 yr But he has NO ring Renee, can't show a bird with NO ring Just seen this Splat. Well you can in WA. In the Adult Class - whether it is an Adult or not. Although most people wait till their non rung bird has matured and if it is any good will then show it.
October 31, 201113 yr Don't let this non-ring event happen to you. Remember the chorus of the following for advice next time:
