October 24, 201113 yr Fantastic job Julie! He is a stunning bird and you should be really proud of all the hard work you've put in.
October 24, 201113 yr Thanks Gina, yes I am stoked and also very proud. My win is for all women breeders out there. We can do it. It does seem to be a male hobby but us females are taking over lol. On a serious note every person there yesterday were just wonderful to me. Oh except for one elderly couple.

October 24, 201113 yr Here is a photo of the sky He still won't relax though but I tried. He just won't relax enough to blow his head he is normally such a show off. Edited October 24, 201113 yr by splat
October 24, 201113 yr He has great lift above the "eyebrows" even though not relaxed..........and he's showy to boot
October 24, 201113 yr Here is a photo of the sky He still won't relax though but I tried. I think its because you are feeding him to many greens.HaHa :
October 24, 201113 yr I know Macka, i had to take these photos today and send to Rod for the Budgie News front cover but I gave him greens and never gave it a thought until this avro when I took the photo, so I guess I will try again tomorrow, Rod said he might of got one that was okay but boy was he naughty in the end. At least today he perched but still wouldn't relax. He has great lift above the "eyebrows" even though not relaxed..........and he's showy to boot Oh thank you Kaz, I am glad you can see that because he is normally a show off. You can see his length too. He is a really big baby. I really didn't even want to touch him today, I just wanted him to relax and put his weight back on that he lost yesterday.
October 25, 201113 yr Can vouch for all that Splat. It's a big long bird that has a nice line and releases the feather up and forward with a roll and ends up very wide from the front. A really super bird. Edited October 25, 201113 yr by fordmob

A really super bird. Thanks Dan but boy is is a hard bird to train in the cage, being trying to get a good photo for the Budgie News but he is so over the whole thing, he normally blows and shows off all the time but not since Sunday, I think he needs to be left alone for a few days.
October 25, 201113 yr Congratulations Splat, don't usually read this section as I don't show. After all your trials and tribulations this season Splat, what a way to lift your spirits. Well done !!!!
October 26, 201113 yr Thanks Robyn. It was funny on Sunday, the friends I went down with were mucking around out the front of the building and congratulating me ask me to say a speech and there were other hobbyist listening and I said okay. I said well Thank you everyone one, I am over the moon with my wins I never expected my birds to get 1st place let alone Best bird in Show BUT guess what I have put the hard work in and the dedication and I believe I deserved these awards Especially after my rotten year I have had, loosing over ninety little chicks etc. Thank you again and laughed my head off.
October 26, 201113 yr Thanks Taboo I just hope I can breed more the same next year. Should be able to, I am putting the same pairs down again as long as I don't loose any adults.
October 26, 201113 yr An awesome result Splat, congratulations. For those that don't know, this is one of the biggest things you can win on the Victorian Show Calendar in the year!
October 26, 201113 yr An awesome result Splat, congratulations. For those that don't know, this is one of the biggest things you can win on the Victorian Show Calendar in the year! Thanks Daryl for the Victorian Shields a plug, gee I am getting a swelled head here No seriously I am really over the moon about my wins, never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to win Best Bird In Show at any Victorian Shield or to get 2 first out of the only 2 birds I took. The only down side is I think I have the points to go into open now and that makes me very nervous. Pretty good though that I only spent not even one year in Intermediate and I have only shown at 3 shows all year. Riverina, Kyabram and the Unbroken Cap Shield. On another note... Still trying to get a photo of him for the budgie news. Leaving him alone today, Rod told me last night I have a few more days yet before the dead line, so that's good. Got to make the little fella happy. He was in the holding cage this morning blowing and showing off. So I think he just needs to settle for a couple of days and then he will be right again. November 1, 201113 yr Hi all I thought I would put some photos up of my winning birds, seem I at long last got a decent photo of the sky, but I haven't got a good one the green spangle but I haven't tried to yet. So here is my sky who won the blue class and best bird in show at the unbroken cap shield The light green spangle, 1st in teh normal spangle, not a good photo at all but this is his sister, she couldn't go to the shield because she has pin feathers from been plucked by mum on the back of the head Edited November 2, 201113 yr by Finnie
