May 20, 200520 yr that cat looks just like the ringleader which comes to ours, wonder if he gets a day rover bus pass over to urs hahah
May 21, 200520 yr Sometimes i look out the window to see a big old cat sitting on top of my aviary. I fix it by letting Mickey out and having a good laugh watching him trying to catch the poor cat! :(Laughing out loud):
May 21, 200520 yr it would be the other way round in our garden, the cat would chase my poor petrified doggy, bless! The funny thing is when we go walking with Ruby, she will bark (or rather yap, cos she's only little) at rottwiellers, I keep saying I really should show her herself in the mirror! But what can I say she's bonkers like her mummy
May 21, 200520 yr hehe cats are scarier than rotwiellers, they may look vicious but they are just big cuddly things underneath

May 21, 200520 yr okay here is my 1st draft what do you think? http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2005-3/974974/untitled.GIF i would really appreciate your imput and ideas on how it can be improved
May 21, 200520 yr THAT'S SUPER!!!! I think it would be just right as it is! But i've never designed an avairy so other people will probably have a bit more usful feedback.
May 21, 200520 yr I'll bet you can't!!! When my aviary got delivered i couldn't wait to get it all put together!!!
May 21, 200520 yr Andy I think you will find what you want to change when you get it up and ready for the birds. I know I am changing things in my little (compared to yours) aviary after a few weeks.
May 21, 200520 yr Don't know anything about the wood but with the mesh you should just go to the hardware store and try to find a square mesh with smaller than 1cm squares. :fear It should be super easy to find and not too expensive.
May 22, 200520 yr glad you guys like it there are some types of mesh that i cant use though arent there? i think its just the stuff galvanised with zinc isnt it :fear
May 22, 200520 yr would it be alright to have somthing like this in the aviary so they cant get to the main resevour but can bathe in the fountain part, the water is moving and it will be filtered or is this not a good idea?
May 23, 200520 yr I think it would be very flashy! I don't think there would be anything wrong with having one in there....
May 23, 200520 yr i just thought the water might start to get contaminated, but the pump would have a filter, so im not sure
May 23, 200520 yr my mum used to have this fountain thingy in the garden and it looked good for a few months, until it got all clogged up with algea and stuff i think it would be very posh to have one in your avairy! the birds my or may not feel comfortable about going down to the floor though. most birds feel vunerable when they are low down - but then again i have never had an aviary! bea - i remember some bath pics of your aviary birds? are they comfortable with landing on the aviary floor? it always worth checking these things out before you spend a heap of money and it turns out to be a waste. i think it would look really cool though. it would be like trying to create a more natural environment for them - a spring there they can go to bathe and drink if they wish :fear i am really excited andy - i would love an aviary just like the one in the picture. cant wait for some pictures when it is up and running!
May 23, 200520 yr yeah this what i'm tryin to make as natural as possible, i really would love one like this.. though i am slightly worried about putting a whole waterfall in and it would look great with the whole pond but will there be a possiblity of them drowning, or if i were to have fish aswell could the pass diseses from each other,, arg so many question.. anyway heres the aviry that i would LOVE to model mine on!
May 23, 200520 yr one word: WOW! how amazing! its not an aviary its a wildlife park! looks fantastic, i dont think a shallow stream would cause a problem at all. and i love the planting! you could even try to grow some eucalyptus or something i love the climbers on the roof too - it makes it seem more homely i think, and less like a big cage. ooohh, andy this is great :book:
May 23, 200520 yr okay i think i might go with a stream, but really shallow, with a waterfall, i was also thinking of climbers for the outside of the aviry, but i dont suppose it will make that much difference just that they wont be able to sever the main part of the plant , hehe i'll have to convice my mum that it should take up even more of the garden :fear only thing is its gonna be really hard to clean, maybe i should get a couple of quials to help me hehe, but obviously im going to put the enjoyment of the budgies before convienience to me, i have too many ideas for this aviry now (Laughing out loud), i just hope i can get it all finished by the end of the summer, otherwise the new budgies would have to wait while.... next year!
