March 10, 201114 yr Hi Phylly, If you haven't already....put notices up wherever you can, and call the local vets and pound. When and if someone finds her, they often ring those places, not knowing what else to do. Put notices up online wherever you can too. People will search online for notices of 'lost budgie, found budgie' and so on... Good luck.
March 10, 201114 yr Author Thank you, Kaz.... And thank you, stace... That really helped.. cause I missed out calling the vets... Will do that first thing in the morning.... I've put out individual flyers (into mailboxes) around the neighbourhood.... how big an area do you think I need to cover? I think we've done about 3-4 blocks? Have also done all the online websites I could find..... I've put up some posters as well... will put up more tomorrow... I really hope someone finds him....... I miss him so much......... I'm trying really hard not to burst out crying whenever I see his cage... and I don't think that it's supposed to be uninterrupted cuddle time with him at the moment.............. and how cold he is out there......... I really need him back........
March 10, 201114 yr Put her open cage outside where she can see it if she happens to be around somewhere close and flies by. You never know. They can fly quite a distance, but you can only do so much flyer posting.

March 10, 201114 yr Dont forget to put notices anywhere petfood/birdfood is sold. Many a person who catches a stray bird goes looking for food to feed it..........pet stores, stockfeed places etc ....anywhere they sell seed.
March 10, 201114 yr I've also heard it mentioned to look for people in your area who have outdoor aviaries, because stray pet birds will be attracted to the birds inside of them. Good luck with your search.
March 11, 201114 yr Put his cage out side with fresh food and water, if you have other budgies make sure their cages are tightly locked and put at least one (that chirps a lot preferably ) out with the cage this helps call the lost bird home if you don't have another one or don't feel safe putting them outside(which i don't blame any one for not feeling safe doing it) Record some budgie sounds and play it near the cage I've never lost a bird but I've read many good endings to peoples stories who lost their birds and got them home from doing the above. and the fliers as stated any where pet food is sold, vets, even on electric/light poles if your allowed to do so I know some areas do not allow people to post signs on their power poles or light poles if you have a facebook page Post on there to and get your friends to post on theirs Good luck and hope he comes home soon
March 11, 201114 yr What state, country are you in? I'm in Hamilton, but I think a different Hamilton. Good luck!
March 11, 201114 yr Author Hi guys.. Thank you so much for all your support and suggestions... It really means a lot.. So far, I've: 1) put 200 mailbox flyers 2) advertised on every online website that I could find (think there was about 6 or 7) 3) rang every vet in town, even the ones on the outskirts of town 4) put up 6 larger posters on trees (I wasn't sure if I'm allowed to do this so that's why I didn't put too many.. don't want to get into trouble for that. I've placed them mostly on the "outskirts" of my mailbox flyer area.) 5) put his open cage outside... I've also placed several dishes of food around the garden Thanks again, Kaz for reminding me about feed stores... I will do that first thing in the morning. I'm just worried because there's actually a lot of places that I couldn't cover...... there are 4 fields/ parks (sport clubs etc) in my neighbourhood and a huge field (research centre) near our house...... Once I've done all I can do, I'll just have to sit and wait and hope that all those areas that I couldn't cover are covered by the online adverts and the vets in other areas.... I also tried to keep a look out for any aviaries in the neighbourhood but couldn't really "hear"/ see any... And Ratzy, I'm in New Zealand
March 12, 201114 yr Author OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a text this morning at about 1030am (NZ time) from someone saying that they found Tanza... After trying to rings 3 times, I get a text saying that he/she is in a meeting... So I wait... After almost 5 hours, I decide to text again...... The person says that they don't have Tanza anymore... That they've LET HIM GO..... I text back asking if it's some kind of joke and to just own up if it was a lie to begin with and I would leave it at that... Then I get a text back saying that they do have my bird and that I don't have to text anymore because they won't reply!!! Some people are so damn inconsiderate!! I want to Throttle that person!!! I'm thinking it's some stupid **** kid.............. Sorry mods... if you have to moderate then pls do........... I just needed to vent...................................................
