Posted January 27, 201114 yr Hi, One of my young budgies is fairly confident (wont run away whenever i go near the cage about 80% of the time) but the other is quite scared and will retreat like 90% of the time The shy bird will follow the confident one everywhere and they feed at the same time after the confident one goes in for some seed However: Will the shy one influence the confident one to retreat away as well??? or will the confident one be good for helping the shy one overcome its fears? Ive had the birds less than a week but they seem to have bonded extremly well so far.....singing together, grooming each other, regurgitating to each other etc.
January 27, 201114 yr Although not all birds are the same, you 'should' find that the shy one will follow the confident.
January 28, 201114 yr I would continue to work with the confident one and ignore the shy one becuase it will help the shy one feel more confident when you talk to him or try to interact it will make him shier and the other one may follow suit. You may find that he will always be shy and that is okay. There is a great article in the FAQ about training and Birdluv had started a journal on how she trained her 2 birds.
