My budgie hangs upside down from his perches then beats his wings really fast! Is this a sign of something or is he just having fun?

Just having fun and exercising his wings!

How large is your cage? Do you have a picture? As said many budgies do this to exercise their wings but I find that they may do it more if they are in a smaller cage where they can't fly from perch to perch. Merlin is in a larger cage and doesn't do this but when I had Pretty and he was in a small cage he did it quite often. Do you give your bird time out of his cage? Is he tame enough for that? If he is birds that get out of their cages more often don't tend to do this as much either. I am not saying he should do this but why he may be doing it a lot.

Thanks for you reply. He isnt doing it a lot just once every now and then usually when i have music on! His cage is huge and there is plenty of room for him to fly from perch to perch which he regularly does. Ive only hand him for barely 2 weeks so no he has not been out of the cage as yet as i am still getting him used to me and my hands.
