Posted October 7, 201014 yr hello to all, I am not sure where this post belongs best (as it is both an indtroduction and a post looking for a budgie to buy) so I will post the same in the likely areas (hope that is okay!) My name is Kate and I am posting on behalf of myself and my daughter Bella (as she is 8, I feel that any questions she wishes to ask are better posted by me!) Bella is hoping to buy her first budgie (both my husband and myself have owned budgies in the distant past - so are aware of what wonderful pets they make). I have looked through the old posts and it seems that there are no breeders from Canberra on this forum? So I am not sure if anyone will be able to help. We are looking for a young / baby budgie (one that is fully weaned and just ready for it's new home), pet type, preferably male - Bella's colour preferances are blue based, followed by green based (appologies if the terminology is incorrect!). We had found someone with two youngsters that looked lovely and sounded ideal - but sadly just after leaving the nest they have both become ill and the breeder has (rightly) said that they are not for sale in that condition. If anyone has (or knows of) someone with suitable babies in Canberra or within a 3 hour drive of Canberra, we would be grateful if you could let us know.

October 8, 201014 yr Welcome, I understand your frustration in finding suitable budgies in the Canberra region. I managed to get two wonderful hand tame babies from one of the members here (Lib) and they weren't too far from Canberra, so you might want to send them a PM. The worst case is looking at a pet shop. I know that none are suitable in Canberra, however I did find one in Sydney which has healthy hand tame babies. When I was looking for more babies, but couldn't get any from a breeder (none available or not hand tame), I went to this shop. They mainly specialise in birds and I got some nice healthy ones and they have been a wonderful addition to my flock. Best of luck
October 9, 201014 yr Author thankyou for your welcome and help everyone - given that this will be my daughters first budgie (and 8 year olds are not likely to be patient for too long), we may end up looking for the best we can in pet stores too, fingers crossed that works out okay
