September 18, 201014 yr Author Thanks Anne..funny a backpack, So it would have shoulder strapes and a tummy strap right, and that would stop it from ending up under his tummy while he is walking. I can just see him for the first few times stopping and rolling and trying to get it off But I might give it aao, can you buy them or do I have to make one.
September 18, 201014 yr Gosh, he's certainly growing! He's going to be a right little chunker when he grows up! The backback's an interesting idea. I used to just carry a bottle for my dog
September 20, 201014 yr I have a fair bit of experience with dogs and you have a beautiful boy that will be your protector and friend for a lot of years to come. Â You need to ensure his needs are met though....he needs rules and excersise thats for sure!! The back pack will help, there is an australian company that make them, the link is below.......give him a little weight to start with and as he gets older increase it, there may be other websites just check them out... Â I'm only telling you from my own personal experience but he will grow to be big and strong, I know other members have given thier thoughts/opinions ..... but I personally would NEVER back away if he jumps on you... or turn away, you need to walk towards him right in front of him, with a sound or word that he will know, whether it be NO or AAHH, or whatever so long as its the same word all the time. Â Good luck Splat, they are a very special breed, you are very lucky. Â http://www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.p...roducts_id/1754
September 27, 201014 yr Such a lovely boy  He really reminds me of Archie in those pics - the facial expressions and poses - its just like he used to be...really missing just him now . Damn I hate losing pets.
September 27, 201014 yr Author Thanks Anne and SL but at the moment he is my least favorite pet, 2 days ago he got on the outside table and chewed up a few things (my things too)and today he did the same thing again but this time Greg's things. He is a naughty boy. Greg is thinking of making him a kennel to put him in while we are not home because he is eyeing off the budgies and cockatiels. He just doesn't trust him. BUT other than that he has been really good. SL26 sorry you lost your Archie you can Jake I really wouldn't mind
September 28, 201014 yr I'd never dream of thinking about taking your Jake Can't have dogs or cats anyway because Hubby is allergic to them . I'll just enjoy hearing about Jake's antics instead!
September 28, 201014 yr Author okay then SL26 I am sure there will be plenty of them, he has Bin Larden written all over his face He was a good boy today though Off to buy him some new toys tomorrow, he has destroyed a few already
September 28, 201014 yr By the look of it,he is going to be a solid dog,he looks to be holding that special colouring. Will be a dog tobe proud off.
October 24, 201014 yr Author Thanks Macka, he is starting to get more red on his back but yes we like his colour. Jake is much better behaved these days. He loves his walks and he fetches his balls for us. I have just started teaching him to jump and catch the ball, he is a very quick learner and eager to please. He loves human company. Here are a few photos taken of him today and boy has he grown. Chasing his ball Returning with his ball Returning with is tennis ball Having a snooze under my chair Just cute
October 24, 201014 yr Author Yep he has grown on me, He is really one very handsome gorgeous little man He thinks I am his owner not Greg, and I am mum and Greg is Dad, SO Jake is our kid lol funny I always thought we would of had a beautiful baby if we had of had one but now we have a dog for a son.lol
October 24, 201014 yr lol... I can relate. we have one gorgeous son plus about more!!!!! two dogs, one cat, three guinea pigs, and all the fish, budgies, cockatiels, finches, and quails. People think we are weird. But they are all our kids.... Luckily our son loves them all too.
October 24, 201014 yr Author Yes one happy funny lol When we talk to Jake I say go to dad and Greg says go to mum lol
October 24, 201014 yr He's a gorgeous boy. It shows your perseverance has paid off with the training. As said before, puppies grow into wonderful dogs with training and not so wonderful dogs without. Not the dog's fault, the owners. It pays off being a good owner like yourself
October 24, 201014 yr Author Thankyou Sunnie, I try. He has had his bad moments, Like for example Greg flowers. Over near the car shed Greg had a beautiful garden of yellow and red flowers and the just started to bloom, really beautiful but Jake thought it was better for a bed because everytime I went out to my birdroom he would jump on the flowers, Greg fenced it but he just jumped and squashed that too. You see my birdroom area is now closed off to the rest of the yard with a gate which I think is great Jake wants to be near me and the closest he can get is the flower bed He did get into trouble a few times but the poor old flowers got so squashed that they all died. Normally if you say NO JAKE he listens and stops and doesn't do it again but when he wants to be near mum he just doesn't care He is only a pup but he is a 100% better than what he was. Even his jumping is under control.
October 24, 201014 yr He's a really beautiful dog Splat and all credit to you for his ongoing training and better behaviour..........well done
October 24, 201014 yr he is a very beautiful dog as KAz said but it looks as though he keeps your hands full judging by what you say about him in your new birdroom thread.
October 25, 201014 yr Author Pride that is when we first got him, he drove me nuts for the first few weeks but he is really good now. He Knows that i am the boss NOT him. As for the gate into my birdroom area Greg did that to make it easier for me. Before the gate went on he would follow me out there and stop at a certain spot and never went any further. AND when it comes to the aviaries which are out in the open yard he doesn't even bother with them and if he does even look at them side ways I yell out NO JAKE and he just walks away. He doesn't even bother with the washing on the clothes line. He is really a good boy.
