June 29, 201014 yr The lacewings are absolutley stunning! Very pretty colours, looking very vibrant. I was also going to comment on the 2nd ones performance of his lovely blow, but someone else beat me to it EDIT: also, I was just wondering how you get the air out of a birds crop? I have had one of my chicks with a crop full of air, but I don't know what to do! He was acting a little off yesterday (not moving much, a little unresponsive) but today his crop had less air and more food, and he seemed a bit better. Edited June 29, 201014 yr by Squeak_Crumble
July 2, 201014 yr Author Hi GB,There looking great, Cheers Patrick thanks patrick and splat im pretty happy their markings are beautiful no thum print couldnt ask for better just hope it doesnt moult out to get one not sure if it can also squeak their femal all of them as like clearbodys its a sex linked genetic so any chicks visual from a split cock to normal hen will be hens can also have normal hens but any lacewings can only be hens not cocks as to how i got air out i lightly pushed it out starting at bottom of crop and in towards center then up you need to very careful doing it that way most use a sterile pin but i cant do that i tried it once it worked but gave me creeps i hate needles so here is babys two day one came out nest right on time too i will leave her their till a few weeks littlest chick dad is not scarred of me and took opportunity to feed while i snapped pics of young chick middle one with baby hiding behind it mum looking great just what i like to see
July 7, 201014 yr Author well i took mum out cage other day as its to to cold to let them have second round dad is healthy but cold has taken toll on him im going to let them go through a molt as breeding suppresses molt and both need to molt out to stay healthy in my opinion mum looks fantastic chicks are still with dad at moment but all eatting on own i will leave with dad till he has no interest in them anymore see how all chicks come out then decide if she was the right hen for him or not
July 7, 201014 yr Great result GB. Good management of mum, dad and babies as well - you are right on about the moult etc. I definately think this pairing was good if the young are anything to go by, cant wait for the moult - especially for baby #2
