Posted May 29, 201014 yr Hello, My name is Kassidy and I'm new to this forum. I have been here several times and decided to finally join. I only own two budgies, one male and one female. The female's name is Koko, and she is about 6 years old. She was the very first bird my family ever got, and she is owned by my sister, but I take care of her. The male's name is Kasper, he is about 1.5 years old, and he is my little sweet boy. I have taken an interest in budgies and other birds only a couple years back and have become the bird 'pro' in my family; taking care of the birds entirely. I enjoy taking care of budgies, but I know I won't be starting to breed them any time soon. (Not enough time, money, or reliability on responsible future owners around where I live) I have learned tons of info on budgies and birds in general, but I still learn something new each day. I hope I get to learn more information focusing on budgies on this forum and can't wait to get to know everyone here. Just a few pictures to get started: http://i841.photobucket.com/albums/zz336/W...2010214-1-1.jpg Koko http://i841.photobucket.com/albums/zz336/W...2010204-1-1.jpg Kasper P.S. I haven't really found out anything about their mutations, so I would appreciate some help as to what types they are. Edited May 29, 201014 yr by KAZ sorry ...had to change your pictures to link as per forum rules they were posted in a size too large for this forum
May 29, 201014 yr Hello and welcome Your hen is a normal green and your cock is a normal cobalt. Normal means their markings are original budgie markings, rather than opaline, spangle, pied etc Edited May 29, 201014 yr by **Liv**

That's the point of normal.

May 30, 201014 yr Author Hello again, First of all, thanks for all the warm welcomes and comments! Oh, and thanks for the help with the mutations. I do have more questions regarding those, but I'll wait for another time in another topic. I'll have to post some more clearer pictures of them since both of them don't exactly show their true color. But the real reason is because, I have noticed a violet color showing up near Kasper's neck and I'm just wondering if that would change his mutation. I'll work on getting some pictures, maybe some tomorrow.
May 30, 201014 yr My budgie Skye has the violet shading. He is normal cobalt split opaline and possibly violet. He looks exactly like Kasper and Marigold looks exactly like Koko. Welcome to the forum by the way!
May 30, 201014 yr Welcome Kassidy, I'm sure you'll find the forum really useful and all the friendly people here will be happy to answer any questions you have. They are a fountain of knowledge!! My Alfie also has some violet colouring near his neck but he's a normal cobalt blue like Kasper. I guess given blue and violet are related colours, it's possible to get some violet appearing in a blue bird. However I'm sure others far more knowledgeable than me can give a better answer.
