i have a question, how can you tell if a recessive female is in breeding condition?

Recessive pied females have the same cere as any other female ....it goes brown just like any other. If it doesnt you have a male.

This can be a tough one to tell initially for a new budgie owner/breeder. I know that I found it tough originally.

Same, Dave. I was duped into thinking that my recessive was a baby :bliss:

I've heard a lot of pet shop personell tell potential buyers that pink cere = female. Misleading.....

 

I must admit though I find Recessive girls a bit hard to judge too along with any other token hens that get that really crusty cere.
