It seems a couple of us W.A. people got birds so they will share a box back to W.A. I was very very good and only bought one bird :D

I hope they were not near my bird, what lot number bird did you get?

My sick bird came from NSW apparently.

I bought lot # 7

Have you got grit in the quarantine cage.

I would put that bird on Sulphur meds straight away until you get him to the Vet .

I agree with Matt, have you got any sulpha, the medication to give to a bird before any harsh medications.

I have bought a few birds this year. When I get the birds they are nearly always knocked about a little. I give them Spark and Probotic in the water for 2 days. I use a water font and water in an open dish. I put seed in a bowl and spread on the floor. To overcome any pecking order issues. I then put the birds on Doxy for 2 weeks with megamix in the water. All the while offering my softfood along with Epowder and Fvite in finger draws. I then give them KD for 2 days. Then Duflo and Ioford for a few days with probotic in the water. After a few more days, say, 3 weeks all up I let them into the flights. Its cold and wet this time of year so I watch them closely. All good so far.

Good advice Jeff. The birds do go through a bit at auctions, leading up to the auctions and afterwards.....more so when they have to fly interstate too :D

Thanks for all the advice it's very much appreciated.Because of where I live I was limited to what I could get so I put him on apple cider vinegar for the moment until I can get some sulpha.I keep the heat lamp on him all night and he looks okay but still not eating.Kaz lot 7 you are a lucky lady very nice bird and I thought it would have sold for a lot more then you got it for :)I can get some sulpha yellow for horses from the local produce shop is this any good? How do you give the sulpha to the bird?I'm now realizing how unprepared I am for sick birds.Even tho I'm in a club I don't get to many meetings due to distance and time, so thanks again for your advice.

Thanks Daz for your offer, your bird I got months ago is going great and I hope to put her down this spring

He is still putting up a good fight, but still tends to shake some and he's off his food still.

Thanks, Mate

Can you crop feed ? If so I would give him a crop feed with handrearing food in it, some powdered whole egg, some whey protein powder and some triple C. Works every time for me here. That little recipe crop fed has made many a bird turn the corner when things were grim.

Kaz I just did my first crop feed, and although It felt a bit clumsy I got the spark into his crop

I only gave him 1ml is this enough and how often should I give it to him?

I'm going to give him your mix next in about an hours time, how much should I give him and how watery should it be?

Heaps of questions I know, but I really what do to try my best for this bird.

Cheers, Geoff

Yoghurt consistency for my special recipe crop feed. Not too runny or they regurgitate it up. About 4 CC's on a syringe. I would do this early morning and nightime till you see signs of him getting better or eating for himself.
