Perch Above Nest Box?

Featured Replies

Posted

hey just put a nest box in my little cage, and i am wondering wether to put perches above the nest box.

i have red on another website that it is bad to put perches above the nest box because they think the nestbox is to low and they do not then breed

my net box is in one of the doors (it pops out the side of my cage) so my perches are farely low

any advise??

anyone??

thanks, hayden :hap:

pictures would help, but no ive never heard of putting perches above a next box

Your nestbox is inside the cage ? Not ouside with access from inside ?

its outside with access

You want your nestbox as high as possible, and you do not want a situation where a perch can be higher so a bird can sit above and look into the nestbox. It would make the hen feel uncomfortable and thus it is not ideal for breeding purposes.

Post a picture of your cage setup so people can see what you are talking about.

please do not use shortcut words as per forum rules........edited.

Do you mean access perch to nest box or normal perches inside cage?

Birds would still need perch's in cage. Maybe at height of hole in box for closest one to nest box, possibly a bit higher at other end of cage if it's the only option. picture's would help.

If you check at start of forum there is a post how to post pictures. Check that out and see how you go.

Are you trying to post pictures through photobucket? If you've joined it. To add your picture upload your picture at med. I think is right. Make sure you have b.b.c. open, where you want to place picture. like here you would add reply, hit enter get your cursor where you want it. Then make sure you go back to google e.g. then open photobucket also in new window. You must have photobucket and Budgie forum open at the same time. Then choose your picture copy and paste your picture into b.b.c. hope this helps, I had trouble getting it to work as well, young fellows like you are more computer literate than I but I got there in the end. Have another go at it. :emoticon112:

Hi Joel,

Its preferable to have them higher but with your cage you may not be able to without cutting bars of your cage. I think you should be okay with the way you have set it up. :D

I believe I have already answered your question. and besides ......why are you measuring from the ground and not the actual cage ? Its fine as I said.

Hi Hayden,

Don't give up on using photo bucket. Try, try, again. Did it let you join? If so that's a start. If not, can't Dad e.g. sign up for it and then you go from there?

A bit further down the track you will want to add pics of your new chick's etc won't you? If you can't master photo bucket it won't happen. LET US KNOW WHERE YOUR AT WITH IT, so we can help more. :)
