They know Joel. If they are looking to breed they will look first to find the nest. I think we worked out that your birds are not in condition didnt we ?

JOEL the females have crusty brown cere's but i have just noticed the one of them has a tint of blue on the edge. both males have a blue cere that becomes lighter towards the middle and non of them are molting. im not sure if they know that there is a breeding box, non of them have breed before but they are all over 1 year old.

The hen is just past breeding condition where the crusty part flakes off to reveal the white and blue underneath which is past breeding condition. The male isnt fully blue so he isnt really fully in breeding condition.

It may be just that mate :o

In that case, you need to take the nestbox off and give them some flight time in an aviary until they are back in condition.

The budgies cere will let you know when they are ready to breed... :o And if giving a nesting box at the right time you should see eggs within weeks, give or take... But they have to be in breeding condition first... :)
