My favourite logical reason was number two :P

2. It's either the budgie or a pony!

How old would she be? I think she's about 8 months going on irises, is that about right? Quarantine cage is all set up now and ready to go. :D

Exciting is right! I can't wait to see how this turns out Ratzy! :)

P.S. I like your 2nd logical reason too! :D

Thanks Kaz. No, Finnie, they haven't shown much interest even though I've tried to tell them multiple times how important it is -_- . I even mentioned it in my logical reasons ( number 6 and 7 ) .

Thank you Kassidy :) I haven't heard from you in ages!

My parents would probably do the same thing, so not surprising.

When are you going to get the hen again? I forgot. :P

P.S. Hehe! I've gotten so busy with the school year starting up again that I didn't have much time to be on the forums. School was out today because of the snow storm going on, so I actually had some free time. :)

Hen is getting picked up Monday, we're going away for the weekend. :)

I'm on Summer Holiday :) and I go back to school ( to high school *gulp* ) next Friday, I think.

Oh! I bet it's 10x more exciting for you, but I can't wait until you get that hen!

When you were visiting the pet store, what condition was she in? (I saw the pictures, but was there anything else that seemed unhealthy about her?)

P.S. Instead of going off topic here, I'll PM you soon. :) EDIT: I can't send a PM to you, I think your inbox might be full.

She was in fairly good condition ( can't say that for another female budgie who has a very bad mite condition and has been obviously picked on ) , her nails were a bit long, but that's soon fixed.

She has a pied spot, so I assume she's split rec pied. :)

Ooo! Pieds are a nice mutation, do you think this might effect the breeding results?

It's a recessive gene, and I don't think my birds are split for rec pied, so it will probably stay hidden. :)

True, true. :)

hey to be the pessimist, but I will lay $20 that the tail will fall out it's first moult and it will grow a normal tail feather, ending all the speculation - :)

Yo Dave,

Nothing to worry about mate....the tail colour will moult off within 6 months.....sit back and enjoy the 20 bucks

Q: Do you sell the birds you breed or keep them in your aviary?? Big $$$ in budgie breeding?

What? Chubba Chubs is almost a year old and hasn't moulted them out.

I did look at the ring, Dave, it was PH1 something, but they wouldn't let me hold it.

No, not in a club. I don't know a ring register, I'll look it up :)

that tail looks normal for a sky blue bird

do you really think theirs something to these birds

i mean my yellow face birds that were born with white faces and molted out into really light lemon faces at 6 months was weirder than a green tail i was actually told to hang on to them but to secure a new mutation if at all it is one would take alot of breeding and recording of thigs pics extra

razy sorry to be a non believer but i believe green tail or not theirs no possible way you could secure a mutation based on your age and fact that your Peronts only let you get a second bird so you did not annoy them for a pony or what not else you may desire so this meaning their would be no way of actually breeding up the number of birds required to follow this so call mystery through

personally i think its quiet normal for the odd bird to grow a odd tail

my cinnamon spangle has a cinnamon tail deep dark cinnamon not white at all

she is not pied and only grew it in after two year of age its been white for two years intill last molt :} birds are funny why we love them so

I agree with GB. The tail in that photo of the sky blue looks quite normal.

Tail doesnt look green to me. Wheres some comparison shots of other skyblue budgies ?
